[00:00:00] I will be at the Arby's on Milwaukee Street in Boise, Idaho on Christmas, giving away black

[00:00:06] sucks to underprivileged people of color.

[00:00:30] 48 Minutes of Dogs Barking, 48 Minutes of Dogs Barking,

[00:00:43] Sucking dick while my man's plays 2K,

[00:00:54] oh you thought i meant my man's dick

[00:01:04] that's a deleted scene from nosferatu i think

[00:01:08] i went to a guy at work today he's a big movie nerd and i did that i did

[00:01:14] you drank the last dr pepper in the fridge and he just goes oh you saw nosferatu too and i'm like

[00:01:22] man i'm really glad i'm really glad you saw nosferatu because else he's been like why is

[00:01:28] brian being so fucking weird so okay the bill skarsgard hangs dong in the movie am i am i

[00:01:33] understanding this for like three seconds it's really all right yeah dude like i i brought like

[00:01:38] the ky warming jelly and all that and it was not as horny as people were telling me a little

[00:01:43] disappointing huh i mean we'll talk about more in the breath mint but it's a really good movie you

[00:01:47] should go see it it is horny yeah but it's not it's in a very subtle like suppressed

[00:01:53] like victorian kind of way it's not like this isn't like showgirls probably much like the original was

[00:01:59] vaguely horny and kind of a eastern european sort of way yeah so it's 48 minutes dogs barking my name

[00:02:04] is jason this is brian fresh from our tour of the vomitorium yeah jesus wow we're friends for right

[00:02:11] i'm telling you yeah we uh we had a nice time getting together recording the gero monster home delivery

[00:02:17] commentary track that is available by the way if you just want to suffer with us you can do that

[00:02:23] for a price at the patreon.com slash 48 minutes of dogs we haven't had a regular show in a while

[00:02:29] a bunch of stuff has happened a lot of it happened today simple life well you know jimmy carter passed

[00:02:34] away at the age of 100 nothing really funny about that except that there was a twitter bot that it was a

[00:02:42] gimmick account uh did jimmy carter died today at did jimmy die the on the most important day for it to

[00:02:48] be factually correct it said no and it was then later corrected by a community note yeah did jimmy

[00:02:59] carter did i today no readers added context yes he was 100 years old and it links to his obituary so

[00:03:06] uh and then uh get fiscal don hughes a guy that i'm a really big fan of posted this every post about

[00:03:14] jimmy carter is either he secretly taught orphans english for 47 years and never wanted credit or

[00:03:20] in 1979 he gave the king of siam a shipment of rifles to massacre the freedom nuns yeah a man of

[00:03:27] contrast absolutely some would say jimmy carter is uh how we got um the current neoliberal

[00:03:34] hellscape that we live in today you can make that argument absolutely and very easily at the same

[00:03:40] time you know i think there's a i think there's a lot of things that the carter presidency got right

[00:03:48] at least as far as like the hope core kind of like this hopefulness he was i feel you pain i feel your

[00:03:54] pain president right yeah i don't know if that one aged well which was a which was a line that then

[00:03:59] clinton kind of bandied about as well kind of like yeah i get it man shit sucks and it's like okay but

[00:04:05] what are you doing about it jimmy one-term presidents they got a short shot to do it didn't achieve his

[00:04:10] policy goals you know but i think really his life in public service after the presidency speaks much

[00:04:17] more to what he was all about you know habitat for humanity until he was 98 you know he kept giving

[00:04:23] back yeah and you know they claim that he single-handedly eradicated the uh the pygmy fly

[00:04:29] yeah i think you mean pygmies no no no in new guinea he went down there with a elephant rifle just

[00:04:37] blast away those guys it was the guinea worm excuse me the guinea worm i don't know if we can say that

[00:04:44] very different yeah very different my dad that's what my grandpa used to call the guys at the uh auto

[00:04:52] shop oh boy so anyway the eradication program was a success they got they got uh one thing that you

[00:05:02] will not hear jimmy carter ever say is uh well anything that elon must says but in particular this

[00:05:09] next phrase that i found particularly fun to repeat mike cernovich posting on twitter never insult the

[00:05:16] monarch and never insult the monarch i did i totally didn't mean that to sound like the monarch from

[00:05:23] venture brothers but it fits it sounds like this sort of thing he would say never insult the monarch

[00:05:30] yeah and uh my pupae twins it's just it's just two guys and ben sherman polos

[00:05:37] i am loving get your laces to which elon himself responds i am constantly insulted on this platform

[00:05:49] and of course uh juniper at can't ever die this is a drill tweet

[00:05:55] lol overruled posting this is the funniest thing he's ever posted

[00:06:01] mark van ranst saying come to blue sky but that everyone on blue sky now uh posting a picture

[00:06:08] of themselves or something else as i'm constantly insulted on this platform i found a tiktok live

[00:06:16] stream of someone with a kermit the frog puppet where it says miss piggy divorced me and it's kermit

[00:06:22] like binge drinking and doing coke and so i'm constantly insulted on this constantly

[00:06:29] assaulted on this platform yes jordan peterson you are oh

[00:06:35] miss piggy left me yeah i can't i i have to like it's hard to get that kermit it really is

[00:06:42] i don't know how they did it for those many years i guess years of practice i don't know probably just

[00:06:47] like didn't jim henson die from aids no what are you talking about i thought it was because he

[00:06:51] was a cancer it was like a very like 19 a's yes jim henson cia yeah yes toxic shock syndrome

[00:07:00] caused by strepococcus his last television appearance was on the arsenio hall show

[00:07:05] abscesses of lungs as a result of a previous strep throat bacterial infection placed on a ventilator

[00:07:11] multiple antibiotics uh and then died later that same night oh man that is just a grim description

[00:07:18] wow yeah and of course frank oz said in an interview i think the deal with disney is what

[00:07:24] killed jim henson jeez is the stress of it all right uh wow uh that's uplifting yeah oh jesus

[00:07:33] you know what i kind of prefer if it would have been aids yeah so you know it was the style at the

[00:07:41] time yes well you know rock hudson had just died of aids so i guess that kind of makes sense

[00:07:45] i had that on their mind but yes i am called i am constantly insulted on this platform uh cernovich

[00:07:53] then replying not by me ian miles chong replying heavy is the crown uh and then someone else responding

[00:07:59] with a series of grok created ai pictures of elon eating poop out of a toilet

[00:08:08] i had a lot of responses about you know are you uh why are you removing verification from people who

[00:08:15] were criticizing you disgraced missouri politician valentina gomez got in on the action you remember

[00:08:21] her she was the lady running around calling people fake and gay don't be faking gay

[00:08:26] but now she lists in her bio christ is king financier mba former division one swimmer what the fuck

[00:08:35] that's all i got the truth cook the crooks and save children valentina for usa at gmail.com

[00:08:43] you know use that only for good i am constantly insulted on this platform uh brian we've discussed

[00:08:50] uh online pornography on the show before a time or two and you may have seen an ad for jerk mate

[00:08:57] or not i mean how depends on how good your ad blockers are i i mean i know what jerk mate is in

[00:09:05] some vague sense i can't say i've ever gone like priced it out so it's a webcam site it's a it's a

[00:09:10] whole thing like they're gonna you know find hot chicks in your area the usual and that sort of

[00:09:15] my husband's dead i do not really want relationship i only want sex yeah yeah well and so the the new

[00:09:22] joke going around on the internet this past couple weeks is that you're in jerk mate ranked mode

[00:09:33] competitive rankings on jerk mates uh here's a one of these is me when i lose connection mid

[00:09:40] ranked jerk mate duos and i get demoted back to bronze beater one so jerk mate has a duo versus

[00:09:49] squad mode you know just amazing and apparently it let's see the earliest known was instagram at the

[00:09:55] beginning of december and then spread to tiktok ads when you're playing ranked jerk mate with bro

[00:10:00] and all the goon sauce combines to make a walking specimen of bro just truly truly gross

[00:10:09] shit looking for duo for jerk mate ranked pov it's the jerk mate ranked finals free for all and all

[00:10:17] the bros are in the lobby amazing jerk mate ranked uh rank whether you're diamond or you know one above

[00:10:24] bronze beater bronze beater i just like the idea that there's a competitive jack off game

[00:10:33] it's just like the real thing yeah it's true especially when you're you know doing it jerk mate duos

[00:10:39] versus squad i'm just imagining a couple guys with with the turtle beach headsets on yeah you got your uh

[00:10:49] you got your lube ready bro yeah i'm lubed up i'm lubed up and you know they got the fleshlight with

[00:10:55] the rgb leds going in a circle oh god oh god they're doing the rainbow yes sir oh that's that's

[00:11:02] terrible it's a vivid image isn't it you just gotta love it this one happened just yesterday morning in

[00:11:07] a fitting image bringing us into 2025 a tesla cyber truck outside of trump's hotel in las vegas

[00:11:15] fucking exploded here's the video from within the lobby you hear the the alarms going off you see the

[00:11:24] the truck on fire hearing some additional explosions and what sounds like fireworks and so yes uh

[00:11:31] apparently a gentleman drove a ways away from home a active green beret with uh gasoline and fireworks

[00:11:40] all this fuel oh camp fuel that's right so you know it was going camping right in the desert

[00:11:48] i um i think uh he wanted to kill himself because of the things he probably did while he was enlisted

[00:11:54] at fort bragg if i had to take a wild guess seems about right yeah there's also the chickens coming

[00:12:01] home to roost on the theory that instead of the united states enlisting a draft for the wars in

[00:12:08] iraq and afghanistan they instead loosened up their uh requirements for enlisting and so they that's how

[00:12:16] we end up with a bunch like neo-nazis and extremists and shit more so than usual i would say

[00:12:21] going through the armed forces in the last uh 20 or so years yeah so a lot of this stuff seeing

[00:12:29] veterans or active duty individuals uh doing insane acts of domestic terrorism and things like this uh

[00:12:36] should not come as a surprise right and apparently there is sort of a tenuous connection to another

[00:12:43] attack that was carried out over the weekend in new orleans deep fried gasoline of that on canal

[00:12:50] street yeah that one fucked me up when i found out about that it's like oh i've walked down that street

[00:12:55] last time i walked down that street was a pro-palestine protest yeah in october of uh 2023

[00:13:03] right so i was like huh yeah very strange i feel like these are in some respects like isolate

[00:13:11] incidents but also maybe speak larger to a malaise this starting to permeate i think deeper and deeper

[00:13:18] into our reality yeah it says uh they identified the driver who was burned uh as a guy named mike

[00:13:25] livelsberger sorry matt livelsberger excuse me god his name had burger in it i know it couldn't have been

[00:13:32] 37 year old green beret they say five bronze stars including one with a valor device for courage under

[00:13:38] fire combat infantry badge and an army commendation medal with valor he rented the vehicle in denver on

[00:13:46] saturday and it was charged in a colorado town and then new year's eve it was charged in trinidad

[00:13:52] colorado and three towns in new mexico down along the interstate 40 corridor this according to the ap

[00:13:58] and uh on wednesday it was charged in three arizona towns before it showed up in the vegas strip

[00:14:05] at 7 30 in the a.m so very strange where is he going what's he doing who knows we don't know we're

[00:14:12] never gonna know just like steven paddock he stopped getting comped he stopped getting comped sushi

[00:14:17] three hundred dollars of sushi comped yeah i don't know maybe that's because he couldn't get the sushi

[00:14:23] comped that he was like fuck this i'm out of here well apparently he drove around the strip for a while

[00:14:28] yeah uh about an hour before uh exploding in the the car park area outside of the lobby at trump hotel

[00:14:38] uh i don't know the validity of that or like what the the significance i would say but yeah just one

[00:14:45] but you know um of course before we got all this information it was just a video of a cyber truck

[00:14:51] on fire in front of trump hotel in las vegas and people just being like is that good you know like

[00:14:58] what kind of omen is this it's a bit on the nose don't you think yeah you know kind of like one of the

[00:15:03] yeah you know people responding on on social media saying it's like if you wrote this into a piece of

[00:15:08] me uh it would be too on the nose yeah a bit too much yeah eric kripke is probably like how am i

[00:15:13] gonna work this into the boys and like rubbing his hands together yeah exactly there's gonna be a

[00:15:18] voight truck that blows up or something i don't know he's gonna he's gonna figure it out he'll do it

[00:15:23] strange events it's a potent symbol though boy if you see that the thing also that also when the video

[00:15:30] came out that showed the explosion you know of course it doesn't help that it's a tesla right so you

[00:15:35] don't you know it's like jfk's head it did just do that maybe it just does that yeah you know um

[00:15:41] and of course here in this ap report tesla ceo elon musk said wednesday afternoon the exit we have now

[00:15:47] confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and or a bomb carried in the bed of

[00:15:54] the rented cyber truck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself he would say that of course he was

[00:16:02] like actually the car didn't do that for once yeah this time yeah it wasn't parked it wasn't parked

[00:16:08] in some like mountain view driveway overnight that's how you got a touch too cold yeah it's a very

[00:16:16] strange story you know a couple people were injured and the only person who died was the driver

[00:16:21] the glass didn't even break outside of the trump tower so strange well like fire departments

[00:16:27] have to have like special tools to like break that glass right because it's like apparently denser or

[00:16:35] much harder to uh crack open than regular safety glass which you know that goes both ways right it's

[00:16:42] it's both okay great for if you're under attack by i don't know people with bows and arrows but

[00:16:48] that's so great if you find yourself in peril and then trapped right in that vehicle sorry you're

[00:16:54] burning alive i'm terribly sorry you chose this fate by buying a cyber truck jeez it sounds like

[00:16:59] something from like uh like king's quest to like just yeah kind of it's like roberta williams

[00:17:08] couldn't have written it any better kind of thing sure absolutely it's that time again it's time for

[00:17:13] a crypto scam of the week brian yes you're listening to 48 minutes of dogs barking the podcast and now it's

[00:17:20] time for the crypto scam of the week are you familiar with feed every gorilla feg i am actually

[00:17:26] very familiar with feg i remember when it was new okay uh in early 2021 and it has just been kind of

[00:17:35] limping along for years it feels like the dev team had like a bunch of marketing money and did some weird

[00:17:44] shit in crypto summer of 21 like they had like a big limp biscuit tour bus that they just that had

[00:17:52] like a feg wrap okay and just like drove it around places like there's foes of it like in front of like

[00:17:57] the arch and nothing to do with anything none of it was it was nonsensical but they had like actually kind

[00:18:06] of decent branding for a crypto project then decided to go like real like see like we're real you know

[00:18:12] real crypto like this is real asset management or whatever and then realized that everyone hated

[00:18:17] that and went back to the gorilla that kind of looks like donkey kong if donkey kong were hispanic

[00:18:27] the donkey kong needs you to come over and put the decals on his van for his cousin's quesita yeah

[00:18:33] he's just come over man we already got some uh crispy modelos and my cousin mondo's coming

[00:18:40] god there's always a cousin mondo you know the mondo oh aunt christy is uh she's making her tamales

[00:18:47] for new year's you know like yes real friendly guy and they're the best fucking tomorrow absolutely

[00:18:52] because all the women in the family have spent all fucking morning doing this shit in the kitchen

[00:18:58] with the hands of but yes hispanic donkey kong

[00:19:04] that's a great concept and i want to explore that but uh feg token

[00:19:09] got hacked this week a suspected exploit this year according to protost.com

[00:19:15] a suspected exploit of the feed every gorilla token smart bridge left holders down 99%

[00:19:22] on sunday after the hacker sold off the proceeds into existing liquidity the author here of this piece

[00:19:30] i really that is uh oh just listed as protost staff that's not good in what must feel like a

[00:19:36] depressingly familiar series of events this attack is the third to hit the project following two

[00:19:42] separate incidents in 2022 project's response to the quote irregular transactions acknowledged its

[00:19:48] users frustrations which were shared by the team it initially suspected quote a vulnerability in the

[00:19:54] wormhole bridge which had previously undergone an audit auditor peck shield blamed quote a

[00:20:00] composability issue from the integration with the underlying wormhole bridge it is a series of

[00:20:06] stacked bullshit excuses you got hacked i'm sorry this is just truly ridiculous that you've been

[00:20:13] around this long and you don't have good opsec somebody got in and fucked with your shit so

[00:20:18] block sec conducted its own analysis finding the quote only the relayer can register withdrawal in the

[00:20:25] smart bridge however when receiving a wormhole bridge message the relayer doesn't check

[00:20:29] of the source address is allowed to trigger the registration so somebody didn't check some code

[00:20:35] somewhere and this allows fake transactions to write they kind of did like a liquidity swap yeah

[00:20:41] that's yeah which is like an old school at this point old school crypto hack move yeah it says many

[00:20:48] voice their frustrations and disbelief on x nope twitter many suggesting the events may have been inside

[00:20:55] jobs this uh the twitter post from deep dive crypto thing is they got away with it the previous three

[00:21:01] times why not try a fourth faith and sixth i think he meant fifth but yes they're not believing the

[00:21:08] hype i guess now it doesn't say what the uh the hackers got away with but uh it does say what they got

[00:21:14] 712 bnb oh okay 73 eth and 96 eth uh that 73 is on base and the 96 was on uh the ethereum chain so

[00:21:26] it's a little over a million dollars a little over a million feels like uh small potatoes i don't know

[00:21:32] well i mean that that project's been struggling for uh a minute so there wasn't much to get is what

[00:21:39] you're saying yeah they kind of been dead and they they've been kind of just mulling around doing

[00:21:45] stuff they are not what i would call a strong second cycle project so why would a project that's limping

[00:21:53] along like this be a target for some malicious actor it feels like it's just kicking you while

[00:21:57] you're down oh because it's easy because you're going where people aren't looking oh i see yeah either

[00:22:03] you go where the liquidity is or where the opportunity is right because that's what i was

[00:22:08] thinking i'm like well why don't you go where the money is this you know doing all i mean like

[00:22:12] doing all that for a million bucks i mean that's easy money i guess so i hadn't thought about it that

[00:22:17] way i was just thinking like you could have got a lot more if you're going after somebody else

[00:22:22] i don't understand it i don't think i ever will and that's okay part of my role i guess on this

[00:22:28] segment of the show yeah uh when did this happen again this year was listed as sunday which would

[00:22:35] have been the 30th it was before the new year oh wow i i'm amazed i didn't hear about this feed

[00:22:41] every gorilla importantly the the hacker gorilla 99 dump though uh that that does feel good if you

[00:22:50] get almost all of it out yeah uh i'm sorry that was a really stupid doodoo joke yeah sorry

[00:22:56] i was trying to it's okay i was trying to inject some levity but i didn't really know what i was

[00:23:02] saying oh you're just shitting out your ass as usual well speaking of shitting out your ass

[00:23:08] this week's main topic is something that i don't know if you were around for but i certainly was

[00:23:12] and it feels bad to even say the name of the website the tard blog right excellent excellent

[00:23:19] oh the tard blog yes uh it's so hard it's a where to begin

[00:23:29] for some reason i thought we were doing um the i hope they serve beer in hell guy tucker max is

[00:23:36] involved okay

[00:23:41] so this is one of my favorite things i've ever heard on a podcast was an early episode come town

[00:23:50] where nick bullen's talking about how for a while jim gaffigan's email for booking was an aol address

[00:23:57] oh so nick bullen messaged him on aim with a link to tard blog like hey you should check this out or

[00:24:05] something along those lines and jim gaffigan responds with like i'm not upset or offended but

[00:24:09] i have to go now okay so in doing research for this show i am ashamed to have this in my search

[00:24:19] history for the whole like tard blog but there are several mirrors some people have gone through

[00:24:23] and re-uploaded the entire site this 80 90 something blog posts that made up the bulk of the site it was

[00:24:32] originally hosted at tardblog.org and it was written by the pseudonymous reedy sped sped short for special ed

[00:24:41] right the basic premise behind the site is that reedy sped again a pen name a nom de plume

[00:24:48] is a special ed teacher who is simply telling stories about the kids in her class

[00:24:54] from the faq on one of the mirrors why doesn't reedy sped quit or get another job

[00:25:00] believe it or not reedy does like her job in her own words quote because i love it i love kids

[00:25:05] i enjoy knowing that i am enriching the lives of my kids each and every day the hundreds of cards i have

[00:25:12] from my kids and their parents is proof of this i love to chase the kids mess with them

[00:25:16] in a nice way peekaboo and shit also it is nice because the kids believe anything i tell them for

[00:25:22] instance it is a well-known fact in my class that i in fact built the school in three days by myself

[00:25:28] i could use my degree which is in no way related to my profession and do something else my friends

[00:25:34] always ask me why don't you use your degree and make some real money but this would not allow me to

[00:25:38] do several things that i like for instance one laugh at my life on a daily basis two eagerly await the

[00:25:44] daily smorgasbord of unusual events three lead an entire class to believe i am the best person in

[00:25:50] the world four order people aids twice my age to do shit for me and no i don't make a lot of money

[00:25:57] this does not bother me or even slightly persuade me to change careers as long as i have money to

[00:26:01] drink myself into a stupor four nights a week and wear nice shit i don't care i will never quit my job

[00:26:07] because i love it another job is as noted a special ed teacher

[00:26:14] sure from 2002 boy that's some tiny text reedy's favorite tard last year i had the best tard ever

[00:26:23] but sadly she moved away over the summer i always think about her she was always so happy

[00:26:27] she smiled did whatever you said without question and never ever abused me she was cute too

[00:26:33] she had cerebral palsy that caused her to sway randomly and bob her head around for no apparent

[00:26:37] reason she also loved me one day i got mad at her because during typing time she was messing around

[00:26:44] and pressing down a bunch of keys at once going real fast etc i told her i was disappointed in her

[00:26:49] and she started to cry i actually feel bad about it the only thing that really bothered me about her

[00:26:54] was that she asked lots of random pointless questions and at unacceptable times this was the scenario one

[00:27:00] particular day last year i was working one-on-one with her doing sequencing activities her and i are

[00:27:07] the only people in the entire room she is continually asking me miss sped what did you do over the weekend

[00:27:12] first of all she is unable to comprehend anything complex complex includes past tense future tense and

[00:27:19] basic language recognition and association secondly if i honestly told her about the debaucheries of my

[00:27:25] weekend i would have been fired on the spot anyway i'm trying to do the lesson with her and

[00:27:30] she keeps asking me about my weekend i would make up a few simple activities like going for a walk

[00:27:35] or brushing my teeth and tell her i did them she would then ask what else did you do over the weekend

[00:27:39] over and over and over again we were getting nothing done it was a hot day outside the classroom was

[00:27:43] hot because the ac was not working properly and i was getting angry she then looks at me and says

[00:27:48] miss sped what did you eat over the weekend after half an hour of her this question put me over the

[00:27:53] edge i look her straight in the eyes and said poop she gasped totally in disbelief of what i had just

[00:27:59] said and responded miss sped i'm going to tell your mom on you that is the end of the post

[00:28:06] now some may question why they use the word tarred this is answered in the faq the faq why do you use

[00:28:14] the word tarred isn't that a horrible thing to call them we decided to use the word tarred because it's

[00:28:19] not a word we picked it for this reason and thus we assign our own meaning to the word tarred when using

[00:28:25] tarred we do not necessarily mean stupid slow or any such word that carries a negative connotation

[00:28:30] we did not call this the hard blog or the really stupid kid blog because that's not what it is this

[00:28:37] is a journal written about the daily happenings in a special education slash behavioral disorder

[00:28:41] classroom some of the kids are autistic some have neuroses some have road of the mill behavioral

[00:28:47] disorders we are assigning the word tarred to all of them as a way of classifying them all together

[00:28:52] for instance when reedy says something about her tards she is referring to everyone in her class

[00:28:58] now i don't think this holds water because it sounds just like what it sounds like right it sounds

[00:29:04] like they're trying to get around you said the bad word right yeah if you think it's a derogatory word

[00:29:10] that's your problem not ours and reflects the biases and issues you bring to the table not us

[00:29:17] that feels very confrontational for no reason all right sure you know it's caused a bit of a consternation

[00:29:22] all across the web this here the johns hopkins newsletter wrote a piece entitled to laugh or not to laugh

[00:29:32] by jordan wendeltz i've thought about it a lot and i've reconciled at least one thing with myself the

[00:29:38] woman who wrote the tarred blog is not at all deplorable for doing so in fact for giving the general public

[00:29:45] a unique and candid insight into special education the students in it the bureaucracy that surrounds it

[00:29:50] and the teachers in the trenches whose daily strife goes unrewarded she should dare i say be commended

[00:29:58] the blog's author codenamed rita sped was a 20-something special education teacher at the time the blog was

[00:30:04] written to document and de-stress she wrote up her more noteworthy experiences in the aforementioned

[00:30:11] tarred blog tarred blog is not for the faint of heart and by fate of heart i mean the unnecessarily

[00:30:16] politically correct aka those with sticks in unfortunate places as one that guessed from the

[00:30:22] title there's lots of uses of the word tarred as well as the gamut of curse words and cynical humor

[00:30:28] the beautiful thing is though is that the blog though insanely funny is not funny at the expense of the

[00:30:34] kids it's funny for the absurdity of the situation of how rita sped deals with the kids and of those

[00:30:42] who are not handicapped in some ways but still managed to act well johns hopkins newsletter by the

[00:30:51] way i just got to keep pointing that out unfortunately sped has since retired from her job as a special

[00:30:55] teacher not surprising as most special ed teachers last maybe a few years before the constant stress

[00:31:00] and physical abuse of the hands of their kids gets to be too much and has quit writing the tarred blog

[00:31:05] i've got my fingers crossed for another special ed teacher to fill the gap but i'm afraid that someone

[00:31:10] with her same sharp writing and unfailing wit would be hard to find as for whether or not i am a horrible

[00:31:17] horrible person for finding the tarred blog funny still up in the air 2006 this was written amazing

[00:31:24] yeah to laugh or not to love a lot of people you know uh we're kind of undecided on this

[00:31:29] you said now did you read the tarred blog i didn't i knew of it a little bit i had forgotten about it

[00:31:36] until it was mentioned on episode of come town a few years you know five five or so years ago yeah i i read

[00:31:44] it once or twice the uh next door jimmy made me suck his dick line is it like it is i sometimes like find

[00:31:53] myself thinking like they saw jimmy made me suck his dick

[00:31:58] and so of course people wrote them a lot of hate mail a lot of it is just kind of what you would

[00:32:03] expect yeah i hope you burn in hell you know i i hate you both so much this is the hate i hope your

[00:32:09] house burns down this christmas what you're doing is sick i teach second grade and this is terrible

[00:32:16] but you need to sit here and maybe you know uh these children their chromosomes are wrong and

[00:32:22] they're just unpleasant to be around right you ever think about that yeah maybe you know these guys

[00:32:26] just suck yeah it has nothing to do with their vibes yeah it's got nothing to do with their mental

[00:32:33] capacity it's just everything to do with like man you just i don't like you but they also had

[00:32:38] love mail that's nice you like to see that yeah you know a lot of people say you know okay really

[00:32:43] well written i've been a teacher sites hilarious if you can if we can't see the humor in life imagine

[00:32:49] how painful it would be it's a great site a good source of those frustrated with the tards

[00:32:55] keep up the good work p.s if you're going to be rotting in hell as one of the other hate mail

[00:33:00] writers suggested it'll be my pleasure to rot along with you a lot of things from you know other people

[00:33:06] that are uh sites so cool i donated ten dollars to the special olympics in honor of you you know

[00:33:11] dark humor from someone who does care these kinds of things so it was a very mixed bag nobody really

[00:33:17] knew whether it was sincere or it's so hard to tell well then it later comes out that tucker max got

[00:33:25] involved now for those of you not familiar with tucker max tucker max wrote an insanely i think

[00:33:31] somebody coined a term for it and it was like um it's like early manosphere yeah it's all this cocky

[00:33:40] posturing uh he wrote a terrible book which was a compilation of a lot of his posts and it was

[00:33:46] called i hope they serve beer in hell that kind of guy you know what i mean tucker max so he got

[00:33:52] involved with it and you'd start to see creeping into the posts references to tucker max that seemed

[00:33:58] very out of place you'd see the thing i want most for christmas is the new tucker max book

[00:34:05] just tagged on at the end of the end of a page they're like okay all right valentine's day 2003

[00:34:13] the post is tards send themselves cards in order to assist the kids in writing out their valentines

[00:34:19] i sent home a list containing the names of every kid in the class basically i photocopied my attendance

[00:34:25] sheet the funniest part of this is that almost every kid had addressed a valentine to themselves

[00:34:31] to brad from brad none of them had any clue that they had done this either as they were distributing

[00:34:38] their cards they would read aloud who it was to they didn't even think twice in reading that they

[00:34:43] had given themselves a valentine um show and tell monday during sharing time the new kid

[00:34:51] brings in something i have not seen a kid do instead of the usual dollar truck the kid has gone through

[00:34:56] all the sunday newspaper sale ads and picked out the things he wanted he brought the actual ads to

[00:35:03] school giving a lengthy commentary on why he on each item and why he wanted it most items were dvds

[00:35:10] playstation 2 games and food he also held up each picture and showed it to the class like just like i

[00:35:16] show them pictures when reading of a story it was killing me the next picture is lucky charms they are

[00:35:22] two for five dollars right now at safeway the offer is good until 224 i like the marshmallows and they

[00:35:28] are good that is why i want them comedy like this makes it all worthwhile and some of the posts are

[00:35:35] just like signed off with no one fucks with reedy sped and her tards it's really hard to tell how on

[00:35:41] the level this person was we don't know anything about him much like texts from bennett you know i start

[00:35:45] to wonder at a certain point like was reedy sped ever real was it just a was a bit yeah it's one of

[00:35:53] the great mysteries of the internet folks was the tard blog real well i mean it is because a lot of

[00:36:00] stuff about it is obviously gone a lot of things that we're reading from are mirrors that other people

[00:36:06] oh i mean like as far as like was it really a special ed teacher writing it not tucker max essentially

[00:36:10] yeah that was that was my thought is that maybe this was a writing exercise that tucker had his

[00:36:15] his people do because according to the google books page this is the only place i've ever been able to

[00:36:21] definitively tie them together except for the mirrors of the tard blog on the google books page which i

[00:36:28] didn't realize they still did but yes in the bio which was written in 2009 he was the facilitator

[00:36:36] of the website tard blog from 2002 to 2003 and that's all i've got facilitator okay interesting

[00:36:44] what does that mean does that mean he wrote or does it mean that he just like gave them money

[00:36:50] it's still unclear a lot of references to tard blog and anything tucker max related have been

[00:36:56] scrubbed he probably doesn't want anything to do with the site which i can understand you know because

[00:37:02] like okay some people might say it's mean spirited or whatever which i don't think it is i mean reading

[00:37:07] through these stories it really does if it's not an actual special ed teacher writing this then

[00:37:14] whoever wrote it is very good at getting in that headspace and like pretending because it's it's

[00:37:20] fascinating to me um and i don't think we will ever know metafilter you know brought this back up in

[00:37:26] 2003 right before the site uh shut down and here's a dude this can't be real they say the writing is

[00:37:33] awful this is a user sweet jesus it's not even funny if you're gonna make fun of people at least do it

[00:37:39] well okay all right i'll get that user mmcg i'm speechless for so many reasons one day i'm gonna blow

[00:37:46] an aneurysm and it'll be because of my mixed emotions over this site i will be dead and the people

[00:37:52] will say you know what killed him it was that website it's either mean-spirited and sort of funny

[00:37:57] or it's a completely inane attempt to troll a whole bunch of people or it's some very sad people who

[00:38:03] managed something i suppose they managed to throw together a website or maybe a new low-fat candy bar

[00:38:10] that doesn't let you down in the flavor department like so many others i think i will vomit now yeah i

[00:38:16] don't like the name sounds like bullshit i've never met a teacher like this oh really the quote is

[00:38:22] during the middle of october we had an assembly it was a couple of homos that were putting on a

[00:38:25] juggling show the kids love the guys their tricks and all the type shit they would say throughout the

[00:38:31] show okay all right what a great sentence

[00:38:38] you know some homos that do juggling homos the juggling homos are back cool it's time to go take

[00:38:47] a smoke break the juggling homos that's the worst opening band you've ever seen in your life can't

[00:38:52] be any worse than exploding cigars i don't know it sounded to me like you had some sort of burgeoning

[00:38:58] respect for them at least the yeah just like oh this is like richard ramirez had written music

[00:39:05] instead of doing all that okay i'm intrigued now i don't think i ever heard them when they were around

[00:39:11] but anyway upsetting upsetting the last time they were mentioned here i mentioned them here on the on

[00:39:17] the podcast yeah it was best of episode god was that like two years ago no it was like two weeks ago

[00:39:24] i did i mention exploding cigars yes you did you met on the best of episode yeah because you were

[00:39:28] talking about cheek face and how they reminded you of them because you because you went into a whole

[00:39:32] thing about exploding cigars and how they were so weird and yeah no i mean i probably explained that

[00:39:37] about weird local bands god it must have been really fucked up when we recorded that episode

[00:39:42] you know that that whole best of episode was basically you had like this you know this list and

[00:39:47] it was like really thoughtful and i was basically just winging it like i like i was like trying to

[00:39:51] explain like a really hot girl i saw at the gas station but you know what i i think uh both are

[00:39:57] valid i i see you and i hear you and i'm holding space for you thanks um anyway thanks thank you uh

[00:40:10] jeez i am married to a therapist that's why that's why you get that's why you sometimes get these moments

[00:40:16] i'm like yes i i hear you tell me thank you for val for making me feel valid tell me more about that

[00:40:21] how did that make you feel uh so how did you feel when next door jimmy made you suck his dick

[00:40:28] yeah i bet that felt real bad speaking of come town i was reminded the other day about the the

[00:40:34] kid who gets molested and turns into a cholo oh uh a fugue state cholo fugue state cholo i keep

[00:40:39] secrets homes yeah what you want stretch me out see how it feels that's what it was it was stretch

[00:40:44] me out it's the same also same episode with jeff goldblum yes uh sticking in my ass the very same

[00:40:51] yeah yeah anyway uh the episode is called scram it's the cops okay probably a top five the child

[00:41:01] molesting jewish there's a mailman named thomas crap who who became a baseball announcer just like

[00:41:10] really one of the most lucid insane things they ever did he's up at bat takes a swing

[00:41:18] you know just the woke elmo who's like gonna call the cops on mr hopper

[00:41:24] yeah yeah girls hpv you gotta get out of here i got my podcast starting in like five minutes

[00:41:30] did you steal my bike

[00:41:34] anyway sorry uh i'm sorry elmo i'm completely checked out yeah every time i think oh we've

[00:41:40] gotten offensive i'm like no no no no go back go back and listen to that yeah but at the time

[00:41:47] i'm trying to like keep us back on track here but i've kind of lost the plot myself i i think the

[00:41:52] point i was trying to make about nope i got nothing uh yeah no tar blog existed it existed

[00:41:59] who the fuck knows if it's real or fake a lot of the stuff that we know about the site is pretty

[00:42:04] much second third hand now there's so many there are three different websites that are mirrors of it

[00:42:10] like there's there's more mirrors of it now it was just the one site before and uh you know tucker

[00:42:17] max kind of disavowed it i guess in a way uh just very strange uh people you know on uh straight dope

[00:42:26] asking in 2000 in june of 2003 funny cruel or both the original poster here novus opiate a friend

[00:42:35] of mine brought this site to my attention today tard blog it's been a long time since i felt so guilty

[00:42:40] about laughing so much so dopers what do you think monstrous or comical briny deep responds it's

[00:42:48] possible that some stories involving developmentally disabled people might be funny but the word

[00:42:55] tard spoils it for me i didn't even want to read any of these stories assuming they would be offensive

[00:43:00] just because of the word tard that's cruel in and of itself briny deep responds to reedy speds you know

[00:43:07] using the word tard we picked it of course it's a word a word most people find offensive she can't

[00:43:12] strip it of its associations just for the asking errata responding neither funny nor cruel the kids are

[00:43:19] anonymous and would be hard pressed to understand what connotations the label would have and why it's

[00:43:24] any worse than developmentally disabled i didn't laugh either like okay all right yeah she's a

[00:43:30] special education teacher says fisher queen and doesn't know that tard is offensive i find that

[00:43:35] appalling cosmopolitan i can understand the use of dark humor to alleviate the stress of a job absolutely

[00:43:40] it's got to be a difficult career i also believe that yes she cares about the kids well-being

[00:43:44] however you know i couldn't get past the fact that she seems to be burning out on her job

[00:43:50] comment that she makes uh it's you know not professional i don't think the site should be

[00:43:56] amusing etc i thought it was hilarious so forth and so on again it's a line of contrast who the hell

[00:44:03] knows are still you know i think it was like three yeah three years ago on reddit yeah tardblog.org

[00:44:08] damn i remember this takes you back to a much better internet pope hentai says oh thanks pope hentai

[00:44:15] mick mcladdy wait tardblog that's not the one by the teacher talking about the special needs kids

[00:44:20] they taught in school is it um oh my god tardblog uh helical scan i remember reading it in middle

[00:44:28] school and going back to reread it later and noticing a bunch of references to tucker maxx had

[00:44:34] been forcibly woven in like the teacher saying they printed out a bunch of tucker maxx articles to read

[00:44:40] speed yeah it says apparently the bottom here copyright 2002 the three tucker maxx and ria speed

[00:44:47] or sped yeah so like tucker maxx had his uh had his name on it at some point

[00:44:54] i don't know it lost the time i read it once i and years ago and i thought it was funny but i don't

[00:45:01] remember any of the specifics yeah there's the the come that come yeah watch that they had like a

[00:45:07] police officer come in to like the class to talk about like molestation or whatever they played

[00:45:12] like a video that was like you know like if somebody touches you in an inappropriate way or whatever

[00:45:18] and they're all watching the video and everyone's just bored yeah there's not enough bright colors

[00:45:23] the video ends and they're like okay thanks guys if you have any questions and then there's a kid in

[00:45:28] the class who's like older than everyone else like he's just this bigger kid you know and he just

[00:45:34] blurts out next door jimmy made me suck his dick

[00:45:48] and they had to like take him out of the classroom holy shit and then like dude to know the phrase

[00:45:55] suck his dick and then also get molested is strange yeah yeah well then the story turns out

[00:46:02] the story turns out that the next door jimmy was another kid that was older than him

[00:46:07] oh shit had been watching like unscrambled cable

[00:46:11] and like acted out the scenes on this other disabled kid or whatever

[00:46:16] uh but i'm sure the story's bullshit you know somebody just made it up yeah if it was just wait you read this

[00:46:22] on that blog on tarred blog oh yeah which i assume is an acronym yeah uh yeah right for teaching and

[00:46:30] respecting the disabled

[00:46:34] okay so i couldn't find it but the secondhand story from from come town just as good uh if not better

[00:46:40] because you get to hear stavi laughing we've talked about this many times on the show before but it

[00:46:44] is endemic of an early internet where anything goes yeah right and it was like that you couldn't do this

[00:46:51] because today you might be able to maybe crank out a twitter account out of it yeah but i mean

[00:46:57] most people like you know boss of the gym or i always go back to the the person that wrote the

[00:47:03] wrote in the character or someone that thought that the the baseball pitcher was the most despicable

[00:47:09] person it was the worst thing a person could be was be a pitcher in baseball that also turned into

[00:47:14] the the like you know some county in north dakota the the sheriff's department murdered my brother

[00:47:20] yes and then uh it seemed like a real thing yeah it turned to like schizo posting who's like oh god

[00:47:28] as they say on uh western kabuki when carlos comes on yeah it was like homie the homie carlos

[00:47:35] yep comes on he's like i'm about to say some shit let's go schizo activate yes it happens it's a very

[00:47:42] real there's there's whole guys that are going around talking about the fog is different than it used to

[00:47:47] be now and it's got it's got particles that'll kill you it's like what the fuck i think a lot of people

[00:47:56] had their brains broken by either covet or the internet itself or like something broke people's

[00:48:02] brains and it's just like like if you listen to qaa behind the bastards or or even knowledge fight

[00:48:08] you'll know that there's people out there whose brains are just i don't know like a turd in a

[00:48:13] soup can they're just like rattling around in there and they've got turd is dried out

[00:48:19] oh yeah yeah it's been in there a while and it's just it's like what is what is happening to our brains

[00:48:25] i want to blame it on lead but not these people aren't that old to have been around for leaded gasoline

[00:48:30] i don't think that's the cause at all i think we just have been in a stew of just insanity for so

[00:48:38] long that some of us have just gone yeah well lizard people are real in fact and the the queen elizabeth

[00:48:43] was one and that's why they had to uh right there david ike well yeah exactly david ike wouldn't have

[00:48:50] gotten the traction that he did were it not for the internet i firmly believe this or a time cube guy

[00:48:56] there's just people whose brains are broken they're interesting but they're also like don't come near

[00:49:03] me don't you dare look at me i've been in jail before if i've told this story on air before i

[00:49:07] apologize but there was someone i worked with who had some sort of i mean yeah like their brain was

[00:49:13] broken and they were really inappropriate like talking about sexual stuff that was like really

[00:49:20] uncomfortable they went up to like the nicest person we worked with and was like you know i've

[00:49:26] sucked like uh 32 dicks and this guy obviously raised by parents that love him like just like a sucker

[00:49:34] yeah like but just a really sweet person he just doesn't know what to do so he goes uh

[00:49:39] which one was your favorite

[00:49:43] do you remember all of them yeah just there's gotta be like a nardewar first you know the world

[00:49:49] class dick suckers do you remember in 1995 when you sucked your first penis you know how do you know

[00:49:56] this how do you i'm nardewar i of course we've got to know nardewar i think is deserving of his own

[00:50:02] episode but after the tard blog after the loving after the shock the shot talk today

[00:50:10] jpg and now the moment you've all been waiting for shock.jpg nothing can shock us anymore we have

[00:50:21] we have been to the mountaintop we have done the worst thing the top of the mountain and it is good

[00:50:27] and so nothing i don't know a shock.jpg called gimme shelter yeah really feels like a kid let's go for it

[00:50:35] i only named it this because that's the song that's playing in the background

[00:50:39] nothing like a little bit of copyright infringement so it opens oh opens with a woman

[00:50:44] hide these uh these beans so it opens with a woman in a bathtub uh stretching her asshole

[00:50:52] goatsy style no ring and a gentleman feeding mentos into her butthole she's she looks very

[00:50:58] concerned by the way look at her face this is from an only fans video from a woman named slutty

[00:51:03] little lex by the way eight eight mentos in the pooper the uncomfortable look as he's pushing

[00:51:09] them in and then of course it's time for old yeller she says and he goes it's yellowstone actually

[00:51:17] pouring coke in her butthole with the mentos

[00:51:36] i thought it was gonna be a little slower he says as he's covered in soda and mentos the geyser from

[00:51:43] her asshole okay now i have one problem with this yeah and i bet you're gonna guess what it is now you

[00:51:49] remember tub girl right tub girl is laying in the tub long ways slutty little lex is laying in the

[00:51:56] tub with her butthole facing the wall not the tub now if you're interested in not having as much to

[00:52:04] clean up wouldn't you be facing the other way wouldn't you well i guess for the camera i guess

[00:52:09] that would be it yeah but there's ways she's facing away from the wall you meant to say yes i'm sorry

[00:52:14] yeah she's facing towards the the camera operator she's facing the rest of the bathroom right and the

[00:52:19] best part is the rest of the video which is just her cleaning up without any pants on and her tits out

[00:52:27] it's just okay i guess yeah it's 10 seconds of like okay sure whatever because if you listen

[00:52:36] you got to listen real close to in the background it's just a shot away

[00:52:43] the whole time i'm like what but again the calm face as the guy is putting one by one

[00:52:50] mentos into your butthole and then he does the last three all at once five six seven eight

[00:52:56] concerns the concerns look and then yes my favorite part is she says old yeller and he corrects her

[00:53:02] it's more like yellowstone i've been i've been i've seen uh old faithful i guess they thought it was

[00:53:09] gonna go up but then the way she arched her back it went straight at him there's another bit where

[00:53:14] she's kind of on all fours and you just hear as it continues to come out of her we don't see it

[00:53:20] yeah just you know god bless god bless this mess yeah well you know i i gotta say like if you're going

[00:53:28] for creativity points i'll definitely give her that one yeah uh you're dead i think i swear we've done

[00:53:36] that one before but i don't know for sure because it could have been some other mentos in your asshole

[00:53:40] no we we haven't okay i uh i would have remembered i'm sorry to say i would have known if we had done

[00:53:47] a repeat i would be completely cognizant of this okay right because i've seen so many of these things

[00:53:53] like looking for things to show you because again 126 episodes and we've been getting new ones every

[00:54:01] time oh and we've got our our anniversary show yes oh gosh we'll save that uh for the announcement at

[00:54:07] the end of the show where we're talking about the finest and stuff but yes we do have a very special

[00:54:11] thing coming up in a couple months jeez i can't believe it i can't believe it either well it is

[00:54:16] time for the breath mint then it's time for your mom's favorite part of the show it's time for the

[00:54:24] next door jimmy made me a sock is dead so i'm guessing you want to talk about nosferatu yeah

[00:54:36] yeah david egger's nosferatu what did you think i thought it was fantastic i think it was his most

[00:54:41] ambitious film and i think just really powerful and well just everything masterful every performance

[00:54:49] yeah uh lily rose depp actually being allowed to act yeah weird isn't it crushing it lots of

[00:54:57] uh willem the foe just like being a crazy madman i forgot he's in that yeah he's great he's he's so

[00:55:04] good um uh alex scars guard as uh count olok was it all alex or bill i think it's a i think it's alex

[00:55:13] it was bill fresh off his failure from the crow 2024 well you know he i think he more made up for

[00:55:21] it yeah i'm excited yeah i know nicholas holt was in it and i'm kind of like okay he's fine whatever

[00:55:27] but uh those three scars guard defoe and lily rose depp i'm that that makes me more excited i didn't

[00:55:34] know anybody was in it i barely had seen a single trailer for it they they're definitely being uh real

[00:55:40] sly and i wasn't even that excited for it until i started hearing like the early reviews and the

[00:55:47] word of mouth on social media is like oh yeah it's it's really actually kind of amazing it's got a

[00:55:53] really great pace it's a two and a half hour movie i want to say two two and a half hour movie and it

[00:55:58] doesn't really feel like that okay it kind of uh the thing about nasa ratu is basically rip off of uh

[00:56:05] bram soaker's dracula yeah so it's the only thing is missing it doesn't have a cool texan

[00:56:10] it doesn't have a cowboy showing up in that yeah yeah uh i uh but it the similarities are quite striking

[00:56:20] yeah um but i enjoyed it uh so thoroughly uh i did the talk and death feels like to spoil it

[00:56:28] um but yeah i just god it was so good and everyone kept telling me it was so fucking horny and like i

[00:56:36] said earlier like yeah it's pretty horny like there's some definitely some horny shit going on there

[00:56:40] but it's not as explicit as some people um would would expect yeah well yeah because i mean

[00:56:50] dracula stories themselves are generally pretty horny bram stoker as much as he may want to

[00:56:58] deny it writes occasionally some horny stuff and i remember the uh late 90s johnny depp gary oldman

[00:57:08] monona writer anthony hopkins vehicle uh the bram stoker's dracula there being particularly horny

[00:57:14] you know you had some uh pretty horny most vampire shit's pretty horny right just kind of by its nature

[00:57:19] i guess but yeah scars guard's performance is pretty impressive um and the uh the special effects

[00:57:30] or the uh makeup work done for him is is pretty great i mean the the fucking lighthouse is so good

[00:57:36] the viking is so good uh the witch and you know i didn't know if i'd be interested in the remake of

[00:57:43] nasferatu yeah but apparently it was entirely my fucking jam well i mean it's been what almost 100

[00:57:49] years now since the since the original i got a nice blu-ray copy from kino lorimer of the original

[00:57:54] with a revamp score and i was pretty impressed by the transfer it was like a really really interesting

[00:58:02] um work of adaptation they took you know the original film negative and went frame by frame

[00:58:07] kind of thing and if you can track down that that kino lorimer version i was very very impressed so

[00:58:13] i'm i'm very excited because that's one of those things i always think about when we're talking about

[00:58:18] like remakes or reintroducing even just the idea to a new audience i i think some movies are old

[00:58:26] enough like yeah it's time you know it's time maybe that someone tries to do something with i don't know

[00:58:31] on the waterfront or crocodile dundee

[00:58:36] we need a hard we need a hard reboot of crocodile dundee

[00:58:42] oh yeah okay i like that anyway most rotu five bags of popcorn

[00:58:49] would you say would you say it was a five bag or brian i'll give it i'll give it a solid four uh

[00:58:54] five bags of popcorn okay too much shit that looked like it was filmed in the volume really yeah

[00:59:02] kind of turns me off when i hear about that i'll still see it it's a david eggers i'll i'll watch

[00:59:09] whatever he makes but well i think it's a practicality of trying to do a victorian uh germany

[00:59:17] uh and uh you know there's a lot of stuff that happened in germany the last hundred years

[00:59:21] you can't really go back and like find stuff from like the 1840s because um it was kind of all

[00:59:26] destroyed there about uh about eight years ago and what happened then by the way do you remember

[00:59:33] i don't know the minions were in a man they were in a cave somewhere what you got i have a one of

[00:59:39] the gifts i got as a christmas present was a copy of what many people deemed game of the year last

[00:59:45] year and i would definitely have added it to my list it is the ps5 exclusive astro bot i don't usually

[00:59:55] go in for 3d platformers but this one got its hooks in me real fucking deep it is a joy to play it is a

[01:00:03] colorful 3d platform that's also a love letter to everything playstation is known for going back 30

[01:00:11] years it is an extended playstation ad which is very strange because your ship is the ps5 and then

[01:00:18] you crash on an alien planet and the alien takes all the parts of the ps5 away so you astrobot have to

[01:00:24] go on your ps5 controller shaped ship to go rescue your ps5 from the it's it's very brand centric it's very

[01:00:33] brand centered oh but at the same time there is a lot of nice deep cuts about things like

[01:00:39] fucking intelligent cube shows up you know sure jumping flash you know these things that are

[01:00:44] very early gaming in the 3d space or gaming on a cd-based console kind of thing yeah i remember

[01:00:54] in astro boy the pre the pack in with ps5 be like oh ace combat haven't thought about ace combat in

[01:01:02] a while and like you know tekken or um siren or yeah yeah there's there's a bot for every souls

[01:01:10] born game uh is in there um specifically demon souls and um and dark souls and bloodborne because

[01:01:19] those are like the playstation exclusive ones um not an elden ring i would have loved to see a little

[01:01:25] robot radon but uh you know there's there's the yakuza game started on playstation so there's a

[01:01:32] kiryu cosmo robot there's a you know i mean it goes all the way back to jack and dexter and ratchet

[01:01:38] and clank and they got all the personas in there so there's just a lot of fun little stuff that kind

[01:01:44] of just somewhat deep cuts you know like not not a lot of people were into arc the lad or whatever

[01:01:51] it is you know they were which was like the first like quote unquote big rpg for the playstation

[01:01:57] and i'm going to tell you uh it wasn't very good in the mid 90s i can't imagine 30 years later it's

[01:02:04] good at all either i i can't it's like wild arms it was a time and a place you know i think wild arms

[01:02:09] held up better yeah i think that i guess that has to do more with like the western theme

[01:02:13] yeah yeah or sci-fi western yeah wild arms i think holds up okay or last time i revisited it

[01:02:21] it was fine um but really the first like big rpg that was successful is final fantasy 7 i mean

[01:02:29] persona is um very niche and it was at least it was at the time it's i mean i love that game like

[01:02:37] passionately and it's fucking rough i wish atlas would have done a remake or they did one for the

[01:02:45] psp yeah which of course nobody owned you know like very few people bought a psp and even fewer bought

[01:02:53] the persona and persona 2 semi remakes um so they're out there you gotta emulate them you didn't hear that

[01:03:03] from me but uh yeah it's just it's nice it's also nice just having a 3d platformer it's not mario

[01:03:10] right because odyssey was great but it's been a while uh you know 3d platformers either fall into one of

[01:03:17] two categories it's either going to be like a mario game or it's going to be some shit like a ukulele

[01:03:23] right where they're trying to kind of like oh yeah we remember banjo kazooie and how fun it was we're

[01:03:29] going to try to make that again and it doesn't quite work there's two yuka and lately games and

[01:03:36] they're just all right but boy astrobot it tickles a certain part of your brain you know that wants a

[01:03:45] crash bandicoot that wants you know there's a there's a 3d platformer part and they're fewer

[01:03:51] and farther between than they used to be because i mean you know every couple years you get oh it's a

[01:03:56] mario 64 and then you get this and that yeah and uh in the absence of another mario game this is

[01:04:03] kind of a great little substitution of course it's a collect-a-thon you run around all these different

[01:04:07] vibrant worlds but what really sets astrobot apart and what just same with the the pack-in game for

[01:04:12] the ps5 is the the integration with the controller all the different environments have different tactile

[01:04:19] feels on the palm of your hand so it's very it's a very 4d experience you know because the speakers

[01:04:26] going and you got a little it's it's all this little bells and whistles and you'd think that

[01:04:31] wouldn't okay that would kind of get old but it never does it never does and just they're like

[01:04:37] smiling like oh my god this is so cool this is so cool is not a thing i say a lot about games

[01:04:44] very jaded when it comes to games yeah so when something comes along and i go this is so cool it's

[01:04:49] like okay all right that's at least noteworthy but yeah that's pretty much been the focus of my

[01:04:53] week is like trying to beat astrobot tried 100 percent it which i'm so close i've got three bots

[01:04:58] left out of 317 bots you can get in the game i just have three and they're all from the speed

[01:05:05] running levels which i suck at oh oh uh sounds like a skill issue it is it absolutely is yes it's that

[01:05:12] and i'm just playing a bunch of marvel rivals i heard that's fun i have not really fucked with it

[01:05:16] i just like the fact that it's free that's a big one can't go wrong with free

[01:05:22] then of course then of course it's the chinese app selling your information to the government so who

[01:05:27] knows yeah uh well um they didn't know already uh that's that's fair uh anything else this week

[01:05:36] you want not really been just just existing going in cozy mode you just kind of just trying

[01:05:42] just works and i might let everyone know how how things are going for me my last paycheck
