[00:00:00] 1. There is no such thing as stealing on the internet. As Wikipedia states, the internet
[00:00:05] is a place where people distribute information through servers publicly. I don't know what
[00:00:10] that means to you, but it means you can get anything and say it's yours as long as you
[00:00:16] don't get money for it.
[00:00:17] 48 Minutes of Dogs Barking, 48 Minutes of Dogs Barking, 48 Minutes of Dogs Barking,
[00:00:25] 48 Minutes of Dogs Barking, 48 Minutes of Dogs Barking, 48 Minutes of Dogs Barking,
[00:02:14] Post said a picture of a ChaseBank ATM showing an increased deposit fund availability of more
[00:02:19] than 80,000. Capsioning it quote, this run been personal. The post suggested a possible
[00:02:25] glitch that made money appear in the user's bank account, a lot of people saw it, and
[00:02:30] then words started to get around about the ChaseBank glitch. The ChaseBank glitch
[00:02:34] is essentially you put a check in, it's instantly available so even if it's a fraudulent
[00:02:39] check you take that money out and ha ha I got your money no that's just check fraud
[00:02:44] it's just check fraud people were going opening chase bank accounts just to commit check for
[00:02:54] folks amazing just brain worm shit I saw this and like I remember when when doing stuff like
[00:03:00] this was like finding a glitch in like the microsoft point system and using it to get free xbox 360
[00:03:06] controllers yeah feels relatively harmless compared to committing a check fraud yeah with
[00:03:12] your name and social attach to it as opposed to like yeah just and this video here twitter user
[00:03:19] at scuba ryan okay people are currently lined up outside of chase bank in New York trying to do
[00:03:25] the new viral glitch to get free money that's fucking funny yeah they can only let the people
[00:03:31] in the bank one one by one uh people were you know responding on tick tock no that's um that's
[00:03:36] fraud and you're going to jail you know that kind of thing the new york posts got involved
[00:03:41] they did an article here it says tick tockers are trying to exploit a chase bank glitch and
[00:03:46] discovering it comes with a cost yeah experts say the glitch looks an awful lot like check fraud
[00:03:53] and uh chase quickly fix whatever bug there actually was and a spokesperson for chase
[00:03:59] told the post consumers should be skeptical and if something seems too good to be true it likely
[00:04:04] is quote we are aware of this incident and it has been addressed regardless of what you see online
[00:04:10] depositing a fraudulent check and withdrawing the funds from your account is fraud plain and
[00:04:14] simple and of course that didn't stop people from then posting their negative account
[00:04:20] balances showing 40 000 in arrears to chase bank why would you line up let bank fuck you in the
[00:04:27] ass when a bank fuck you in the ass every day yeah for free you just wake up and the bank is
[00:04:33] there no fucking no vaseline yeah just ray the raw dog you for the rest of your life yeah then when
[00:04:40] you die go after your your necks of kin right and uh be like um so uh you know that house your dad
[00:04:50] bought so uh what's good yeah there's uh there's something i like about you uh seems familiar
[00:04:58] i'm going to uh economically yeah essentially yeah so two pieces of ai nonsense happening this week
[00:05:08] we've covered nano rimo on the show before i believe the episode's title is even something like
[00:05:13] a dr who sonic empreg something like that yeah if you want to listen to that go back to the
[00:05:18] archives definitely find it there it's a lot easier to search on patreon than it is on spotify just
[00:05:23] saying yeah so you should give us five dollars something like that so nano rimo has a bit of a rep
[00:05:30] as being uh some nano rimo pieces have been let's just say i'm generous here
[00:05:38] phoned in a bit well nano rimo is starting in two months and so the organizers decided to get
[00:05:44] out ahead of this and release a statement about how they fell about using ai to hit your goal
[00:05:51] in a headline what is nano rimo's position on artificial intelligence
[00:05:56] we believe that to categorically condemn ai would be to ignore
[00:06:00] classists and ableist issues surrounding the use of the technology and that questions around
[00:06:06] the use of ai tie to questions around privilege it's classists enable us to not use it actually
[00:06:13] so there's some people out there that'll probably never be like good writers sure even competent
[00:06:20] but it's like part of the whole point of nano rimo to like just do the damn thing yeah and you're not
[00:06:28] ever going to get to your capacity in any sort of hobby or art or or discipline if you don't
[00:06:38] fucking try yeah roshi susuki who founded the san francisco zen center once gave a talk
[00:06:45] one of my favorite talks one of my favorite zen talks about being the worst horse and in that
[00:06:51] talk i'm gonna summarize it as best as i can yeah that's gonna save point yeah is that we often
[00:06:57] think of the best horse as being the most ideal because as the horse that runs as fast as
[00:07:01] as the horse begins to gallop before the whip even hits a tide but perhaps the worst
[00:07:06] horse is the horse that should be most valuable because that is the horse that has the most potential
[00:07:12] for greatness because it is not reached its potential it has the capacity to be better than
[00:07:18] its current state whereas the best horse can get no better yes okay okay i i often think about that
[00:07:25] that talk quite a bit in many things in life yeah and fuck ai you know because it's it's also
[00:07:33] brad warren who's an american zen master often talks he's got some some opinions that i i don't love
[00:07:41] but i think he also gets to the center of some things um he always thought the idea of like using
[00:07:48] psychedelics to kind of like cheat code your way to enlightenment or whatever is kind of like
[00:07:54] climbing up the mountain but then just using a helicopter to get up to the top yeah where you
[00:07:59] were you were cheating yourself out of so much experience and knowledge
[00:08:05] by just kind of like hoping that like if you do lsd and listen to a record that doesn't suck
[00:08:11] that you might trick your brain yeah i mean what's your intention because if your intention
[00:08:18] was to just kind of like skip ahead is was your pursuit even really like noble or sincere
[00:08:23] yeah chances are the answer is no yeah so i feel like this is a weird cop out well especially
[00:08:30] because the entire point is to knuckle down do it in 30 days do it yourself you know do this thing
[00:08:37] that you can be proud of having accomplishment on your and on your bone of feet is or what
[00:08:42] do you know however whatever you want to use it for some people try to use it to get a
[00:08:46] publishing contract some people just do it to do it sure but you know getting assistance from
[00:08:52] chat gpt doesn't really feel like you're doing it right and i think there are perhaps ways you could
[00:08:58] use chat gpt that is productive whereas like what is a was considered to be a good three act structure
[00:09:07] when you're asking like questions you would ask a teacher like i had to write a cover letter for
[00:09:13] job application a couple months ago and i ended up using an ai that kind of just give me the
[00:09:16] bones for it i'm like oh okay yes well the cover letter looks like and then i was able to
[00:09:20] fucking knock the whole thing out yeah i think that's a little bit different than yeah it's one
[00:09:25] thing to use it to understand structure and it's another one to say yeah write me 50 000 words on
[00:09:30] you know on on um rainbow dashing impregnated by uh two-face right exactly and one of the best
[00:09:40] things i've read on this so far today was aftermath rylan mccloud you don't need ai to
[00:09:47] write a novel and the subhead ai isn't a privilege issue no matter what national novel writing month
[00:09:53] says uh he briefly outlines what we just said there and about the third or fourth paragraph
[00:09:59] how precisely nano thinks ai will help people who haven't had the aforementioned privileges
[00:10:04] isn't quite spelled out is someone without the quote financial ability to engage a human for
[00:10:09] feedback and review going to use the ai to evaluate their writing something that technology
[00:10:14] cannot meaningfully do are the quote underrepresented minorities who are less likely to be offered
[00:10:20] traditional publishing contracts going to use ai to publish their book i don't know what this would
[00:10:25] even look like nor how it would fix quote the indie author space which inequitably creates upfront
[00:10:31] cost burdens the idea that ai is some kind of assistive technology akin to dictation
[00:10:37] software or alt tax feels naive to me when you consider how the entire system is built on
[00:10:43] theft and the ultimate aim of profiting the rich with ableism already baked into its very core
[00:10:51] one paragraph hits the nail fucking done yeah thank you mr mccloud that's i mean i also think
[00:11:01] taking a slightly wider viewpoint of things uh for on the show as a tron oh yeah said very
[00:11:07] eloquently on twitter a couple days ago and i will kind of paraphrase here because i'm not gonna
[00:11:12] take the time to look it up on my phone but basically that the near liberal hellscape that we
[00:11:16] live in has robbed us from the ability to enjoy these these hobbies and these creative pursuits
[00:11:24] so in lieu of that we have ai as kind of like this turban jand into a toilet as a solution
[00:11:32] we have we have robbed ourselves of joy and now all we have is the arifice of an arifice yep
[00:11:41] it's a photograph of a photograph well more ai nonsense hit the timeline this week the ai solo
[00:11:48] preneur posting yesterday a chinese company released an alarmingly advanced text to video ai minimax
[00:11:56] okay the video that they decided it's like a hollywood studio in your pocket 10 mind-bending
[00:12:01] examples and this is the first video they chose to represent their product okay eight seconds long
[00:12:09] but listen carefully
[00:12:22] so it ostensibly shows darth mal and darth vader on a nondescript alien planet
[00:12:28] wiggling lightsabers like their their cocks and there's this they are kind of going tip to tip
[00:12:34] near the end as they get closer and closer is very unsettling and aggressive and the voice
[00:12:40] that they're using for a fight me
[00:12:46] what the fuck is this this is the first one this is 17.9 million views of this okay
[00:12:56] it's unintentionally amazing it only gets worse now here of course at tyler durin 21 here's an
[00:13:02] improved version where he replaces the dub with beavis and butthead
[00:13:18] nothing cannot be improved with the addition of beavis and butthead especially
[00:13:25] you've seen the legend of beavis haven't i have yeah you showed me that okay fantastic yeah i
[00:13:30] any still time i have an opportunity to pitch that i feel like it must be taken yeah if you haven't
[00:13:36] seen it by the way find that on youtube i'll put the link in the show description so you can
[00:13:39] enjoy the legend of beavis uh let's see here there's a few more i the awful giant robot fight
[00:13:48] in the middle of the ocean which is like okay yeah so we took still frames from pacific room
[00:13:53] and made them worse yeah this is you know what and here's the thing none of these look
[00:13:57] any worse than the minecraft trailer
[00:14:02] the minecraft trailer was one of those things where i felt like i was
[00:14:07] like breathing in the exhaust of like a broken a busted ass Chevy celebrity yeah yeah in the
[00:14:14] final moments and just just those are the last snaps of my brain firing before i just go into
[00:14:20] the great sleep we gotta get them blocks Kyle oh wait he can't say Kyle's name anymore
[00:14:26] because he said because Kyle did nothing wrong but um
[00:14:37] i already don't like minecraft for a lot of reasons i was at my sister's for labor day
[00:14:43] family thing yeah and thankfully her two girls are not really like ipad kids
[00:14:49] no good but they do have ipads and it was just really weird listening to
[00:14:56] my two nieces who are not i would call like nerdy they're very like in the sports
[00:15:02] and like smart but not like consumer is smart which is like i feel like what a lot of kids are
[00:15:09] now um and like my sister bargaining with the older of the two about minecraft time and i
[00:15:19] yeah what is this how i'm not like thinking like is this how my sister felt when i was her age
[00:15:27] her her daughter's age and like bargaining with my dad to play like twist mail to with me oh
[00:15:33] i was like wondering i'm like no because swiss mail to objectively whipped ass yeah minecraft
[00:15:38] fucking sucks yeah just and then the movie thing and of course because it's a movie
[00:15:45] adaptation they got things wrong and i'm about to hear for the next month from my son i know your
[00:15:51] sons we punch in the shit out of the bathtub i can't fucking believe it fucking knock it off in there
[00:16:03] go away you have some fucking boxing gloves
[00:16:07] you're gonna keep doing this shit don't fucking break your hand that's true
[00:16:12] my favorite one though aside from the beavis and butt head remix is this one it's two ai women on a
[00:16:19] bad in skimpy outfits one holding a guitar not even fingering a chord with the sign in the other
[00:16:25] hand saying we are not real and the accompanying song that goes with it now one the other one is
[00:16:32] holding sparklers inside and then there's one of them smooching i bit bit they turned into
[00:16:38] the thing there you see that with the hand yeah i mean like there you already see the
[00:16:42] cell hallucinations in this video yeah the things are just so unsettling but the the fucking like
[00:16:49] weird like fear kid hands appeared in the middle of her chest for just a split second
[00:16:55] rick baker ass you know hot girls in your area just it's just a taste of things to come and i
[00:17:02] hate it it's it's not gonna get any better jason i know uh right speaking of things there
[00:17:09] never gonna get better yep it's crypto scam of the week crypto scam of the week baby you're
[00:17:14] listening to 48 minutes of dogs barking the podcast and now it's time for the crypto scam of the
[00:17:21] week i was thinking like what are we gonna do this week i am i don't really pay attention to
[00:17:25] crypto because it feels like it's the same five things of bullshit over and over now
[00:17:29] now it's very boring it's very stupid you sent me something and this isn't necessarily new
[00:17:36] no it's a classic yeah but like it came from someone i didn't expect i expected like daryl
[00:17:41] strawberry i didn't expect mr dean fucking norris yes yeah who tweeted uh earlier was it today
[00:17:50] that's what's uh today yeah today nine am or something been messing around with tron and my
[00:17:54] friends at sun pump meme gave me the idea of launching my own coin don't know what i'm doing
[00:18:02] and i've lost a couple hundred but i'm having fun crying laugh emoji cash tag shreyer now available
[00:18:09] on the tron chain and it's a sun pump dot meme link and a photo of hank shreyer as or dean norris
[00:18:21] from breaking bad right yeah it's very bad yeah it's i mean the jokes kind of write themselves
[00:18:29] right yes when i say you you're the smartest man i know walton yeah and you can't realize
[00:18:36] this man pulled liquidity 10 minutes ago uh-huh hank don't do it don't put your funds in a
[00:18:45] coin hank but as it turns out like a lot of these things this was not actually dean norris
[00:18:50] getting in on this it was in fact somebody had gotten access to his account poster all the shit
[00:18:55] within the hour dean norris had regained control of his account didn't mention it just deleted all
[00:19:01] the posts and moved on which is probably the right thing to do to be honest the more you
[00:19:06] give fuel to the shit the more it's gonna i have not seen that token at all the last i saw of it
[00:19:12] when it first hit nobody put money in it because it was the post was up for like 30 40 minutes
[00:19:17] it wasn't long enough for people to like go nuts about it yeah see like it's not even showing up on
[00:19:22] a lot of it see yeah wow it doesn't yes it's just showing up anywhere i mean tron itself is my 15
[00:19:29] cents but tron might end up being probably one of the weirdest frauds and crypto and i do not have
[00:19:36] the time nor the interest to explain it but just know that one day there probably will be like
[00:19:42] some dudes like fleeing to uh france or or belize or something yeah never hear from them again non extradition
[00:19:51] treaty countries yeah so it was the pump and dump that never was huh just didn't show up at all
[00:19:57] yeah there's nothing there okay move forward whoo well uh he wasn't the only one donald trump's
[00:20:03] daughter-in-law and daughter were apparently hacked tuesday evening this was yesterday to promote a token
[00:20:09] purportedly tied to world liberty financial this according to coin desk laura and teffany trump the
[00:20:15] wife of eric and daughter of donald tweeted what they described as quote the only official they're
[00:20:20] back on this only official thing there's so many different ones the only way to get fucking fleeced
[00:20:24] by a hoodlum family yep so it is a salon a token cash sign w l that says it to support our defy
[00:20:32] lending protocol laura trumps post goes i'm excited to finally be able to speak on world liberty
[00:20:39] financial the project i've been working on alongside my husband at eric trump i would first like to
[00:20:44] just oh jesus christ yeah no it's fucking what is it what these are trumps here these people
[00:20:50] prompts and like and even like the fact that they're overthing themselves up for for people to scam
[00:20:56] like this the hack in their twitter accounts and project this kind of scam and have it be believable
[00:21:03] when the patriarch of this family is in a is running in a fucking general election yeah
[00:21:10] is it's a it's absurdity beyond the pale yeah that that we can even get to this and have it be
[00:21:16] feasible that this could be i believe it if i had seen it if i had seen this tweet on his life
[00:21:22] yeah sounds right well there's even some cards to be holding some bitcoin oh yeah whatever it is you
[00:21:29] guys like yeah have fun with your crypto or whatever you have fun with your crypto boys
[00:21:36] or whatever you're playing with i think is what he said have fun playing with your crypto
[00:21:42] but yes like all things that have come up in this capacity it was of course not true
[00:21:48] just like dj t just like any of these other ones these hacks came hours after coin desk revealed
[00:21:54] details of world liberties plans including the fact that it's a borrowing and lending defy platform
[00:22:00] that plans to issue token w l fi the project does not have an official launch date the white
[00:22:05] paper indicated that donald trump will be quote chief crypto advocate boy that last line though
[00:22:14] is you're really kind of miss oh yeah sorry eric doll jr and barron trump all have roles as well
[00:22:23] so it's he's got all of his failed sons lined up for this weird thing that it can't go in any
[00:22:29] direction other than fraudulent no there's nothing else there i mean yeah because they
[00:22:34] previously worked with dough finance which got drained for two million in july one also founded
[00:22:40] date hotter girls l lc that was the part i was trying to remember it was
[00:22:46] date hotter girls amazing l lc couldn't get the s corp on that one huh no they could
[00:22:54] wonder why and one last crypto thing i i know this is probably not true i think it's all
[00:23:00] just smoke and mirrors but someone on i think this was something awful cia own all the unsold
[00:23:09] satoshi nakamoto bitcoin and there's good theories as to why the cia were the ones who invented
[00:23:15] bitcoin my favorite clue is that the name meaning of satoshi is intelligence and nakamoto is central
[00:23:23] and so satoshi uh yeah knowledge wisdom okay uh and nakamoto central origin or one who lives
[00:23:36] in the middle so central intelligence i don't know man that feels the uh the first response from
[00:23:49] jaw brokes or jake brode's here of his own tweet this is like when pier tries to give a fake name
[00:23:56] and family guy and looks around and panicked and look this is like when pier tries to give
[00:24:01] a fake name and family guy and looks around panicked sees a pee and goes pee sees a woman crying goes
[00:24:07] tear and then a wing lion bursts through the window and he goes griffin yeah pia griffin
[00:24:13] ah shit yeah p tier griffin yeah this is uh it's i don't know if it's true it feels real
[00:24:25] enough you know it's one of those vibes based assessments i have to make every once in a
[00:24:28] while and it just like okay yeah i'm gonna roll with this one sure i'm just imagining the briefing
[00:24:34] like at the end of bern after reading though like what the fuck did we learn not to do it again
[00:24:43] god bern after reading i feel like is one i've only seen that movie probably three or four times
[00:24:46] but each time i like it more more when i worked at blockbuster and rinsed it as a pre-street
[00:24:51] yeah i was like it's okay right and then the second time like okay and the last time i watched i was
[00:24:57] like this is brilliant yeah i think a lot of what people consider like the lesser coins do that
[00:25:03] where they have this something's in there and you you have to catch it a couple times to let it all
[00:25:10] sink in because i was not impressed by the big lobowski when i first saw it and a lot of people
[00:25:15] like what i'm like well i mean i i guess it wasn't in the right frame of mind i wasn't like
[00:25:19] really ripped or anything you know wasn't yeah thinking that this is like some stoner or
[00:25:24] like a neo noir movie or anything and the more i see it the more i look the first time i saw fargo
[00:25:31] was like oh this is brilliant you're a fucking liar i don't hear even sex with the little fella then
[00:25:38] yeah there's just a lot of that has just francis rick dormitt and william h mazy just
[00:25:44] doing their level best and i love a peter storm air appearance too but uh the fucking george cloney
[00:25:51] sex sex chair the sex chair oh my god about uh a higher parts a hundred dollars in parts excluding
[00:25:58] the dildo it's just going in the background your eyes drawn to it every time it's mesmerizing you
[00:26:09] cannot and brad pit acting his absolute fucking stupidest oh i love i love him as an idiot um
[00:26:16] he sells it really well because i feel like that's more honest than anything else
[00:26:21] i have heard that his role in 13 monkeys is apparently is true at least at the time okay
[00:26:30] true to like his his honest little tweaked out a little like real little twitchy little intense
[00:26:37] okay little uh oh did you learn that in school i knew a couple guys like that yeah so i felt real
[00:26:45] but you know what else doesn't feel real
[00:26:49] the main topic of our episode tonight yeah balmsworld.com when you don't have thick enough skin for
[00:27:01] something awful but you're too annoying for fark mm-hmm there's always e bombs world which is
[00:27:09] i think probably the the closest to the the scraping the barrel oh the internet if you've
[00:27:15] heard us talk about fark if you've heard us talk about gosh albino black sheep or any one of these
[00:27:20] sites yes it is a collaborative user generated type of site and you know it's very similar
[00:27:26] except for a couple of major things and we'll get to that because it is probably the most hated
[00:27:35] website up until it got bought out i want to say the most hated website until reddit
[00:27:41] i'm not i'm not joking no that's funny because it's true yeah the lemon demon never wrote a song
[00:27:47] about reddit and we'll get there one of these where you even begin with this shit show i know one of
[00:27:52] these has the actual history of the site uh and it's it's an old wired magazine article
[00:27:59] which is how you know uh something really reached the zeitgeist this is from 2006
[00:28:06] the headline dude that is so not funny by david kushner the subhead eric bowman made big bucks
[00:28:15] posting other people's homemade gross out videos to his website now the geeks whose clips he
[00:28:21] swiped on the way up are trying to knock him down and we'll and we'll get there
[00:28:25] and so eric bowman he describes him as a diminutive unshaven 26 year old in a t-shirt
[00:28:32] and khakis bowman has short dark hair bushy eyebrows and a passing resemblance to a Baldwin brother
[00:28:38] he expertly assesses a photo being shown to him by uh by a co-worker there it's original way
[00:28:45] more interesting than the usual cock and balls and bitch scrawls that typically end up decorating
[00:28:50] the faces of people who pass out on a fraternity couch it's clear crisp well lit heck it's just
[00:28:57] flat out hilarious the dude looks like he crawled out of bigfoot's ass bowman thinks
[00:29:03] he pivots and gives Ronaldo the thumbs up sign the shot would be posted on e-bombs world
[00:29:08] the insanely popular and profitable website for goofy homebrewed media that has made
[00:29:13] bowman the king of dot comedy
[00:29:17] yowza what a paragraph oh it hurts a lot of people think the stuff on his site is
[00:29:23] sophomore tasteless offensive and just plain dumb and it is but everyone loves a good side
[00:29:28] show and bowman is the master carney of the online world again okay without spending a penny
[00:29:35] on direct advertising he turned his high school hobby ran out of the bedroom into one of the
[00:29:43] hits a day there's a television pilot in the can a book deal in negotiation a potential pact
[00:29:50] to bring e-bomb content to cell phones ad revenue over the past year doubled to 10 million dollars
[00:30:00] and the only overhead is bandwidth and salaries he has 30 employees who handle coding marketing
[00:30:08] financial affairs and assorted office details he drives a shiny black Porsche Carrera besides
[00:30:15] gobbling up real estate around town and gas wells in Kentucky he sponsors heavyweight boxing champ
[00:30:22] hasim the rock ramen probably the least deserving guy to have this happen this guy makes uh
[00:30:41] this guy makes Maddox look like a fucking muzzatresa
[00:30:47] muzzatresa wasn't even that great right so um
[00:30:53] there's just there's a lot going on here the basics of the story are a lot of like the
[00:30:59] basics of any website that deals in content that's not yours you troll message boards you go to
[00:31:04] something awful you go to 4chan you find what's funny you post it on your own site put ads on the
[00:31:10] site and you make money from it so tail is old as time happens all the time but for whatever reason
[00:31:16] e-bombs world got the ire of a lot more people online and i think part of it was Eric Baumann
[00:31:23] being a jackass yeah just uh um a big shithead i think that's the big takeaway i've gotten
[00:31:32] from e-bombs world having despite having spent some little time directly interacting is like oh the
[00:31:39] guy who runs it is a huge fucking major league chode yes it's it's one thing to do you're the man now
[00:31:47] dog wiki cites them as uh yeah they they're a source of controversy because not because more than once
[00:31:54] they've removed watermarks from other sites and replaced it with the e-bombs world logo
[00:32:00] it's one thing to present content that's not your own it's another thing to act like it is your own
[00:32:07] and this happens time and time and time again so e-bombs world built on stolen content
[00:32:14] they got bought by handheld entertainment for 15 million in cash handheld one of the earliest
[00:32:20] names in viral video deals with aol video facebook fox mobile and others e-bombs will get
[00:32:27] 15 million in cash when the deal closes plus 2.5 million in stock and another 2.5 million in stock
[00:32:34] if targets or reached that according to mashable when the sale went down
[00:32:39] Eric Baumann he's got fuck you money and he went ahead and uh was really shitty about things
[00:32:47] he got a cease and desist from fox for the video of the uh yeah the lady
[00:32:54] of the stomping grapes and falling down the dear owner of e-bombs world ink this is from the official
[00:33:01] legal notice fox television stations is the exclusive owner of copyright and other intellectual rights
[00:33:09] in and to the footage used in connection with its news programming recently discovered your
[00:33:14] website contains footage from the atlanta television station w a g a without authorization
[00:33:19] from fox so they tell them you know remove it we're going to take uh legal action otherwise
[00:33:25] i think they did for that one but for the most part they were not really keen to do that unless
[00:33:29] threatened the timeline of controversies this is the thing that i i think is the funniest
[00:33:35] like you know you're a real piece of shit when your timeline of controversies is longer than
[00:33:40] any other biographical information people are also being hosted on new grounds well there's that
[00:33:45] new grounds wiki yeah when new grounds is coming after you know you've really fucked up
[00:33:52] so yeah 2003 eric bellman had been threatened by a large number of corporations mostly involving
[00:33:58] trademark names copyrighted material one was about sound boards hasbro sent e-bombs world a letter
[00:34:05] claiming that the g i jope herity videos originally by fensler film which we have covered
[00:34:10] on this show yes violated the trade the videos are not removed since fensler film didn't face any
[00:34:16] legal action neither did e-bombs something awful forum members who participated in photoshop fridays
[00:34:24] found their work on e-bombs world and there was a lot of uh dusting up about that sega threatened
[00:34:30] to sue e-bombs world after a copy of the game super monkey ball was posted on the site
[00:34:36] it was not only was the flash based game posted on the site it was hot linked meaning that just
[00:34:41] displayed a web page that linked directly to sega so all that traffic instead of getting
[00:34:46] right right it's fucking siphoning all that bandwidth from sega most of e-bombs detractors
[00:34:53] take this as direct proof that e-bombs world employees knowingly host stolen material
[00:34:58] and screenshots of the page loading text and page source code are easy to find using a search
[00:35:03] engine the page was removed and eventually it was replaced with an image of eric astrada pointing
[00:35:09] the viewer in the text you're a homo like why eric astra i think we had a eric astrada fixation
[00:35:17] very short period time in the mid aughts because the chips uniform because there's always him in the
[00:35:21] in the chips from that show this is the bit about you're the man now dog they hosted
[00:35:27] him watermarked a lindsay lohan montage created by derrick lutz aka white c mnd user splice vw
[00:35:34] while crediting neither himself nor you're the man now dog you're the man now dog users
[00:35:40] fucked with their forums spam posts d-dos all that fun stuff e-bombs world says oh this is a
[00:35:46] form of cyber terrorism neil bellman the dad states publicly that arrests were being made in
[00:35:52] retaliation to the nothing ever actually came about that max goldberg the owner of you're the
[00:35:58] man now dog and neil bellman came to agreement bowman agreed to remove the montage from his
[00:36:03] website goldberg removed any reference of e-bomb from his website february 2006 michael parker
[00:36:11] appeared on g4's attack of the show to clear up the whole you're the man now dog kevin
[00:36:16] perera co-host of the show asked him explicit questions about the alleged infringing parker
[00:36:22] claiming quote there aren't any written rules or regulations we're trying to do our due diligence
[00:36:27] and do the things that we feel are right by not taking other people's material without crediting
[00:36:32] them or contacting them first we try to contact all these people if we see something we like
[00:36:38] like a game we don't just put it on our site we contact these people and if you notice with
[00:36:43] all our new flash games we have our own intro in them it's done by the creators and we pay
[00:36:47] them for that but in true e-bombs world fashion in may of that same year more shit from something
[00:36:55] awful for him started showing up and they were cropped to remove a watermark that they had put
[00:37:01] on their little grenade logo cropped to remove it and replaced i think at that time the the
[00:37:06] watermark was just something awful dot com and the horror and the grenade watermark
[00:37:11] was a response to that oh that makes more sense you know let's see here albino black sheep
[00:37:16] the greatest hits i know yeah ellen becker the the creator of the flash animation animator
[00:37:24] versus animation would take legal action against ebombs world and let's see here larner and becker
[00:37:31] that's a steven learner of albino black sheep larner and becker had used the mochi bot flash
[00:37:36] tracking tool to track who used the animation on their websites the flash was posted on ebombs world
[00:37:43] it had been decompiled and the line hosted on albino black sheep dot com had been removed from the
[00:37:49] code on june 9th bowman sent becker a check for 250 as well as entering him into a monthly contest
[00:37:57] of which becker was the de facto winner in hopes of having any legal charges this is sad
[00:38:06] dude so upsetting so because of all these things and i mean this is there's there's more but
[00:38:13] because of all these things a good number of artists obviously we're
[00:38:16] trashing ebombs world a website was created called ebombsworldsucks.com in the first
[00:38:23] version of the site just this flash animation by users alt f4 and trapezoid with music by
[00:38:31] nil sasariga also known as lemon demon
[00:39:00] get all upon ebombsworldsucks.com it wasn't fair to the folks from who he stole but did he care no
[00:39:10] not want this and then he had an ass to sell some ass one piece of shit oh there it is
[00:39:20] we've never been the biggest fan of ebombs seeing as he's making a living off thievery
[00:39:24] but he crossed the line when he posted malicious code on the front of ebombs world
[00:39:28] which caused anyone visiting his site to call pages from something awful
[00:39:32] wasting bandwidth this was a direct attack which is illegal and it is sad to know that it will go
[00:39:38] unpunished you know at the bottom of ebombsworld where it says you can ask to have your content
[00:39:43] removed they just ignored the emails all admins owners and moderators of ebombs are scam artists
[00:39:49] whether or not they think so spread the word about ebombs it may be true we won't be able
[00:39:55] to shut him down but i'd like to be partially responsible for him making less money fuck you
[00:40:02] ebomb wwdo.somethingawful.com wow yeah that is this is such a insane throwback well the fact
[00:40:10] that they're you know hailing low tax as a hero yeah this was post man ghostine was this pre-uha
[00:40:17] bull well 2005 so yeah i think i can't remember when that was exactly was that 2005 or 2006
[00:40:25] but yes this was this was still a period of time when people had generally a positive viewpoint
[00:40:32] of low tax hard to think of that happening now but you know 15 years ago was a wild ass thing
[00:40:41] February 2006 Eric Bellman contacted us and demanded we take down ebombsworldsucks.com
[00:40:46] as you can see we did not comply in fact we demanded he make changes on his own site if he wants to
[00:40:52] stop for this reason we're asking for anyone who had their content stolen or knows of someone whose
[00:40:57] content has been stolen or otherwise used without permission to contact us they give an email which
[00:41:02] is proof at ebombsworldsucks.com and then they included the chat log of that conversation
[00:41:09] which is mostly pro forma kind of boring stuff but what do i need to do to get the animation
[00:41:13] removed ebombs says alt 4 responds i can't see that happening ebomb why not alt f4 because i spend a lot
[00:41:22] of time on it and it can't exactly spread the word if it is not for viewing i don't think there is
[00:41:28] anything you can do to get me to remove this animation from the internet ebomb i'm not asking
[00:41:33] you to remove the animation from the internet and obviously there's no way for me to make you
[00:41:37] alt f4 then what are you asking brah ebom i'm asking you to stop hosting it on the domain you're
[00:41:44] hosting it on alt f4 why alt f4 also here i'll make you a deal ebom and not to mention there may be
[00:41:51] a small percentage of your animation that may be true huh we try we try our hardest to give
[00:41:57] credit where it's due you're giving us a bad name alt f4 you delete everything from your
[00:42:01] website and work from the bottom up with all new all original content and i will forward the
[00:42:06] domain to your website ebomb it's very easy for us to put a link up giving credit to the original
[00:42:12] author you'll find it all over our site alt f4 oh cry me a river you only started credit since i
[00:42:18] called you out on it very much so i'm sorry we got caught oh yeah sorry that we're getting our
[00:42:24] comeuppance yeah it goes on for a bit alt f4 does have three final questions do you think
[00:42:30] your website is wrong in any way did you post a review on new grounds about my flash
[00:42:34] how much money do you make on average ebom well very possible i'm not perfect no i have not
[00:42:42] and he doesn't answer the question about how much money makes a lot which is the answer yeah
[00:42:47] alt f4 gets the last word ebom i hope you like coming off as a douchebag on your
[00:42:53] high horse who does nothing but dodge questions and defame ignorance yep ebom's world not great
[00:43:01] lot of content thievery happening a lot of people saying now here's a short list of complaints
[00:43:07] worth a thousand had a few things taken from there yeah here is a essay what man saying i used to simply
[00:43:13] slap my name in the corner of some old photoshop so you couldn't really find it unless you were
[00:43:17] looking for it he took several of them found my name clone brushed over it and put the logo
[00:43:22] in a different corner yeah i've seen one of my photoshop's on his site here's greg nork emailed
[00:43:27] him got no response next time i pop out something high quality that i know will end up with on his site
[00:43:32] i am registering it with the copyright office and taking his ass to court it's fascinating you know
[00:43:38] i mean like there's just there's only so much you can steal without having a big bad fucking problem
[00:43:44] i don't know dude were you ever on even i mean i know you probably you said you like were on it
[00:43:49] like 15 minutes or so i i i never really spent any time on it at all and uh i felt like
[00:43:57] that really was the worst yeah as far as that sort of subculture on the internet e-bombs was the
[00:44:06] bottom of the barrel you really couldn't get any worse maybe like beast forums where it was like
[00:44:12] people taking like second tier disney animation properties and being like i'd really like the
[00:44:19] fuck the horse from that is like you know what no one needs to know about that yeah no no one
[00:44:24] needs to know about your spirit fan fiction oh spirit the horse oh yeah like we don't the world is
[00:44:33] is there is no want for this no i can't imagine you are making god retreat further into his abyss
[00:44:40] by by thinking that there is well so i heard i heard you don't have anything really available
[00:44:45] i really don't uh i'm kind of running dry on me this is one of those ones where i wish
[00:44:51] that it was socially acceptable to take foes of one's insane bowel movements for
[00:44:58] the prosciary well hold on there there was a website they there wasn't rape my poop dot com
[00:45:04] no uh it was called urinal poop oh there we go listen my my own weird proclivities have given
[00:45:11] you inspiration so yeah it is shock dot jpeg time and now the moment you've all been waiting for
[00:45:22] shock dot jpg saved by the bell last minute which was which was urinal poop dot org couldn't
[00:45:33] get the dot net couldn't get the dot com yeah the organization of urinal poop it was a basic
[00:45:39] front page it wasn't really anything there but the gallery was where it's at is five separate images
[00:45:44] of someone pooping in a urinal so the first one here is kind of basic gotta be honest it's not a lot
[00:45:52] going on there that you know that's uh that is not the michael jordan those shitting a urinal
[00:45:57] it's a little brain little brain shaped one yeah that person needs to drink more water photo two
[00:46:04] contributed anonymously from harvey mud college
[00:46:09] gotta love that that's mud with two d's yeah yeah yeah i i respect that so this one's a little looser
[00:46:16] it's definitely made some streaks in the bowl uh it's filling up that ball that'll slap that's slap
[00:46:21] the poor son that made a sound oh that sounds like a bird that's not like a bird hitting the window
[00:46:27] oh yeah you're not wrong uh here's another one contributed by lord shang here's some
[00:46:36] some candy bar shaped little nugs there floating around and this is one of the ones where the urinals
[00:46:41] partly clogged too so you all you gotta wonder the uh the plastic bit that holds the urinal
[00:46:47] puck is just floating around in piss and shit like that's not helping at all no it's not making
[00:46:52] anything better number four i think this is the one that i laughed the hardest at because it's just
[00:46:59] like it looks like it looks like melted fudge yeah it's it's very thick tightly coiled dog shit look
[00:47:05] you know that one yeah not a fan and then the final image number five
[00:47:11] a nice greasy log on top of the blue protective piece there and it's just just sitting there
[00:47:19] moist it's the moist one i have my own urinal poop story oh please
[00:47:27] so when i worked at guitar center when i was 18 it was a guy that worked in accessories with me
[00:47:34] he had the opening shift i had like the mid slash close shift i came in and he was like really
[00:47:41] flustered i mean he was kind of a nervous flustered guy he was like raised Mormon
[00:47:45] and so had like all the weird Mormon baggage about having like extra food in the basement
[00:47:50] he was cool he's gone to live a relatively normal life unlike a lot of the people that
[00:47:55] worked at that store with us at that time yeah but he like was kind of flustered i'm like
[00:48:00] what's up man and he's like you know such and such i go yeah he's like well um he got really
[00:48:06] pissed off that i wouldn't sell him some like see more Duncan pickups at the price that he wanted
[00:48:11] so he went to the urinal and took a shit in the urinal and it's still there okay and i was like oh
[00:48:19] okay i i gotta go check it out and yeah i mean it it was it was true it was just it was some
[00:48:25] turds in the urinal and and the thing that always like got us i remember the store manager
[00:48:33] who's this guy from new jersey just being like isn't that guy a fucking dentist took a shit
[00:48:39] that guy's got money he drives a fucking Mercedes what a prick
[00:48:46] what a prick indeed Jesus Christ and i mean and that same guy and that same store manager had had
[00:48:53] also one said one of the truest things anyone has ever said as far as i'm concerned as far as sound
[00:49:00] hitting my ears and he was talking about the bathrooms are always a point of contention
[00:49:05] because as he once said you know i've worked in uh schools i have worked in gas stations
[00:49:12] and there's just something about guitar center that makes people go like you know what
[00:49:16] i want to take a nasty shit and i want to get some on the ceiling
[00:49:21] i remember uh there was a kid who got hired he was friends with another person
[00:49:28] uh this chick that worked the door and they were both right out of high school
[00:49:33] and i was talking with him and his name was also brian he was like yeah you know i'm just kind of
[00:49:39] like taking a gap year before i go to college and like yeah man that's cool whatever like you know
[00:49:43] kind of figure shit out i'm talking like i'm talking like this to a guy who's like not even
[00:49:48] probably a year younger than me like yeah man figure your shit out don't try to be understanding
[00:49:52] trying to be a good guy yeah like yeah okay yeah that's whatever like anything wrong taking
[00:49:55] the gap year and like taking a breather and then figuring it out yeah sure and one of the
[00:50:03] was like uh hey brian's uh the shirt is clogged okay and i mean it was so nasty we went into the back
[00:50:11] in the warehouse got plastic gloves duct taped them to our wrists
[00:50:17] about 20 minutes into unclogging this catastrophe in the handicapped stall which is kind of
[00:50:22] like the penthouse suite of the bathroom yeah yeah this guy's just like you know what
[00:50:26] i think i will actually take up my my dad up on his offer and work for his siding company
[00:50:30] and then we saw that guy again
[00:50:33] that feels so real it was like his first day his first day yeah you gotta clean this abysmal
[00:50:40] situation in the shitter and that actually used to be the punishment on sundays and
[00:50:45] saturdays if it was a hot day for sales and you weren't fucking making any money if you
[00:50:51] weren't bringing in anything you gotta go clean the bathroom because saturdays is when people are
[00:50:56] like you know what i'm just gonna grab into the toilet and just take a little little bit
[00:51:00] do do our sprinkle on the wall and i'm also going to write my initial dude people would
[00:51:05] fucking heat up that bathroom oh no that um guitar center dude people would fucking heat up
[00:51:15] the bathroom a guitar center is the most cursed bathroom of anywhere i've ever worked except for
[00:51:20] two jobs ago i was gonna say the music venue no no the honestly the firebird never got their
[00:51:27] bathrooms weren't bad yeah um i've seen venue bathrooms that are i mean you can talk about
[00:51:32] the galaxy's bathroom yeah terrible terrible the original creepy crawl even the new one they kept
[00:51:38] the they kept the crappy bathroom curse somehow yeah amazing that the shitty venue just was shitty
[00:51:45] all around yeah it kind of fits kind of you know who we should get on we should get matt picker to talk
[00:51:51] about oh man the creepy crawl oh boy rules oh you know what that's good i'm gonna put a little
[00:51:57] feel around make some sense in my dude we're talking about this guy like he's just some guy we know
[00:52:02] but he's like ben and like the thank you notes of like a dozen like platinum selling record
[00:52:08] yeah very strange very strange like this guy who like is very unassuming and humble has been
[00:52:14] like in the sephal tour would like to think matt picker over a slm yeah really okay foe he was like
[00:52:21] yeah it was a foe of me like slash at nam and like just one of those guys you would never know has had
[00:52:27] like a really interesting life yeah and he's just he's just a dude that likes the bmx and
[00:52:33] skateboard and play drums fucking i do i mean sometimes you know that's those are the
[00:52:38] guys you want in your quarter very honest time for the breath mint it's time for your mom's favorite
[00:52:44] part of the show it's time for the breath mint time for the breath mint oh baby baby we're not
[00:52:52] shitting in the urinal today well i might if you uh if you maybe disagree with me on the one thing
[00:52:59] we do have as a mutual a mutual thing that's on here yeah you want to start with that yeah so uh
[00:53:05] you put a little movie on the plex there for for uh mutual consumption a little movie by uh
[00:53:12] m night schlemmelam called uh spangela spangela called uh trap trap which um he bees in the trap
[00:53:22] did not involve
[00:53:36] two episodes in a row i just found myself going down a real dark path oh with my with my manner of
[00:53:42] talk and i'm like you know what ain't worth it ain't worth it having it having it on the record
[00:53:48] you know what just imagine what's the most awful immature thing i could have gone with okay just
[00:53:54] act like that's there perhaps your manner of of interpreting or or making that joke would be funnier
[00:54:00] than me who knows i'll just leave like this i think you know i think a lot of the trans panic is
[00:54:05] you know you know i think the genesis of that is huh trans woman got too hot that's true it is
[00:54:10] trans woman got too hot all these little college republican boys don't know how to deal with
[00:54:13] their feelings because their their dads are awful yeah and they were they grew up in a terrible
[00:54:18] patriarchal society you know what ain't nothing wrong with it no you know what you're attracted to
[00:54:23] what you're attracted to you know what man just fucking sort your shit out don't make everyone
[00:54:27] else's problem yeah if you can't do that fucking kill pretty much yeah yeah it's pretty much it
[00:54:34] jesus now the movie is not also not about a house where you uh mix crack so it's uh instead
[00:54:41] it's instead of movie about a uh a psycho killer trapped at a musical concert i hate that the trailer
[00:54:47] spoiled this because if you came into it not knowing and major spoilers for trap if you're
[00:54:53] planning on seeing it skip ahead maybe two three minutes if you came into it not knowing the josh
[00:54:58] harden it was the killer i think it might have made the first 10 minutes weirder and kind of funnier
[00:55:04] yeah where he's acting all weird and he's noticing the cops and the the kids because i this was pg 13 so i
[00:55:11] saw my my my kids they were both guessing because they have this weird tendency to like try to figure
[00:55:19] out like right grandpa try to figure out what's gonna happen in the movie and and my daughter got it
[00:55:24] right she said oh i bet he's the killer that they're after i was like i didn't want to say
[00:55:29] anything because you know i yeah i like to preserve that sort of shut the fuck up right
[00:55:34] i think they didn't see any ads for it whereas i did because it wasn't marketed to teens it was
[00:55:40] marketed to adults even though it's a pg 13 movie it doesn't have a need to be an art it's more of
[00:55:46] a thriller than a horror movie obviously it's the type of movie that it is and uh boy i but i gotta
[00:55:51] say overall i think it's very tense it's got some weird unintentional comedy running throughout it
[00:55:59] and i think josh hartnett kills it that's where i'm at i liked it what did you think i think uh you're
[00:56:05] right about the tension unfortunately i was in a situation where um i was gonna watch it because
[00:56:10] my girlfriend she left for work and then she got cut so she was driving from work and like trying
[00:56:14] to finish it before she gets home oh no different kind of tension but then i had like stopped because
[00:56:19] like the dog wanted to go out and then the dog wanted to go out taking nasty shit then the
[00:56:25] dog came in and did a nasty barf and i'm like can i just watch this movie for more than 15 minutes
[00:56:31] without being interrupted and that kind of like took me out of the rhythm unfortunately i think
[00:56:38] it's one of his better movies i think there's an unintentional commentary about the police
[00:56:44] state we live in yeah a little bit yeah because like a british one we're going to do but let's
[00:56:49] all the men we're gonna check their penises and cocks make sure they're really men and that they're
[00:56:56] not the butcher oh yeah that was a weird sex pervert brish woman thing yeah she's the fbis
[00:57:04] profiler yeah we gotta check their penises and cocks and make sure they're clean if they have a
[00:57:10] dirty penis they need to go into the box yeah like it's it's a show for little girls why would a
[00:57:17] man be here yeah if you see a hot woman yeah uh who's in nice amalan's daughter yes who i think
[00:57:25] does a very respectable job yeah i enjoyed her performance as lady raven i thought she pretty
[00:57:29] yeah okay i think the movie kind of goes wonky once you leave the stadium that's what i've heard
[00:57:37] a lot of people say too i i think there's i'm also i'm also um heavily opposed to alison pill as a
[00:57:48] weird suburban mom i don't know i think it works i it really fucked with my head yeah this is kim pine
[00:57:55] like i can't and from that one show about the advanced computer and the people dying devs devs
[00:58:02] yeah it was one of those things were like am i like am i old am i dying like like oh gosh this is what
[00:58:09] this is this is what it means like oh i wish i was young again yeah no i can't like the time marching
[00:58:14] forward fuck me yeah damn it i need to go out i need to go buy a gun you know like what
[00:58:20] or like anytime i see Naomi watt says somebody's mom in a thing i'm like fuck i can't do this
[00:58:25] yeah yeah i was i was like i'm like i can't i'm like what else is pill going to show but she's
[00:58:29] like a police officer i'm like she's the wife oh bad come on come on yeah i was definitely
[00:58:39] disappointed by the lack of alison pill in the movie for sure i mean she's a peach i think once you
[00:58:46] leave the stadium it gets a little funny the concept starts to get a little weird it wobbles a bit
[00:58:52] yeah though that being said the back third does have some cool moments there's some good tension
[00:59:00] i feel like it could have gone somewhere better than it did like i mean like darker maybe darker
[00:59:08] because i think people complained about that in the visit whereas yeah it's a little grim don't
[00:59:12] you think i don't know i think the visit's just just right yeah i agree darkness and the
[00:59:19] despair yeah for a you know what you would consider a what post flop era m night movie i think we've
[00:59:28] we've got another banger on our hands here yeah it's that it's not the trees perhaps the society
[00:59:33] the happening yeah i know i still think that happening had a couple good beats i was gonna say
[00:59:39] the opening is fantastic i think it's kind of a dog shit movie but there are a couple parts
[00:59:43] we're like oh that was really good i wish to rest in the movie was as good as this yeah i had a
[00:59:47] lot of the same feelings about old you know like there's some moments and moment to moment
[00:59:51] there's some great stuff but don't tell drake about the beach that makes you i'm never gonna go there
[00:59:57] yeah but yeah i mean like his track record i mean he had a couple of a real dog show i mean
[01:00:04] avatar the last airbender was a dog shit movie i have no make no bones about it after earth
[01:00:09] was a dog shit movie you know he had a string of flops two maybe three if you count the
[01:00:14] happening now i think he's really got he's reestablished his bona fides he's took some time off
[01:00:19] he did some tv stuff he did that show servant i think old is a perfectly fine movie i think this
[01:00:25] is a perfectly fine movie i wish it were better i feel like it would be a better r-rated movie
[01:00:31] yeah for sure but i don't think he's ever really going to top like signs or no the sixth sense
[01:00:38] i remember seeing the sixth sense with my grandparents and my grandpa at the very
[01:00:42] end of the like i knew a whole entire time that guy was dead and bullshit bullshit you're sleeping
[01:00:53] when people try to like claim that they outsmarted the movie and this makes me think
[01:00:59] think it's a fucking norm mcdonald on the view watch it and he's like yeah you know i couldn't
[01:01:04] watch uh uh twilight zone growing up because my dad would come in there like what's this
[01:01:09] want a goddamn ghost yeah it's a whole thing too like a lot of people and it's not just
[01:01:17] old people it's not just any particular group of people but like people see movies now as a puzzle
[01:01:23] to be solved and not an experience to be had yeah that's a lot of people's problems i think that
[01:01:29] they have in like long legs and stuff is like they saw the movie as a puzzle to be solved i'm
[01:01:33] like yeah this is not that this is uh long legs is just eerie yeah vibes based movies i think some
[01:01:42] people got it which is why it kind of got the word of mouth that it did but i think a lot of the
[01:01:47] reviews i'm seeing now now that it's hit video on demand are tanking the average because they're
[01:01:53] like the hoses it's not as good as the nicolas cage movie where he's the guy in the dreams
[01:02:00] dream scenario dream scenario yeah dream scenario is well that's like if charlie kaufman
[01:02:05] wrote a horror movie yeah i mean i mean yeah it the on we and just the weirdness of that film is
[01:02:11] unselling in a way that few other things i think have achieved in in recent years but long legs
[01:02:18] was fine is exactly what i think of every adult that listens to t-rex like that is like no you
[01:02:26] said that when we're leaving the theater and i'm like yeah you're right yeah i mean i
[01:02:29] mean i just like every like when i was younger every older like white guy that i ever met that
[01:02:35] was really in the t-rex was just like that puffy and just like yeah i'm gonna play my less pole
[01:02:43] where my pork pie hat uh other than trap yeah anything for this week uh yeah um have you heard
[01:02:51] of a little tv show called you yes i enjoyed the first couple seasons of you i think i tapped
[01:02:56] out when they moved to la so that is the second season where that is the second okay with christilia
[01:03:03] yeah which is really really prophetic yeah like wow wow you got you really cast the right guy for that
[01:03:10] role method acting is what he's gonna say yeah god that video of christalila realized being told
[01:03:16] that you will snapchat messages don't really disappear it's up there with dr disrespect
[01:03:24] getting some bad news during an elden ring stream and you can see even behind the glasses
[01:03:29] and the wig the face just falls and then like there's a couple of deep breaths and then like
[01:03:34] well we're gonna quit the stream tonight guys that kind of reaction it's that same
[01:03:39] yeah anyways uh you so you is about a young man named joe who's a bookseller
[01:03:49] and in new york city new york city he falls in love with a english major
[01:03:57] as we all do at some point in our life who doesn't you know uh named beck turns out this is
[01:04:04] an incredibly mentally unstable man that is able to most often maintain a facade of normalcy
[01:04:12] in an actually quite a bit of quirky charisma a guy you wouldn't think to point out a lineup
[01:04:19] right but he is a um stalker i guess you could say yeah in the first season he's both certainly
[01:04:25] stalking his intended pair more that's basically the first three or four episodes are stalking and
[01:04:32] then he then enters a relationship with this woman and it really goes some wild ass places and it
[01:04:40] fucking falls apart in some wild ass fucking ways and at the end of the first season he's like well
[01:04:46] i gotta move to LA now because i've i've soiled the nest i've made a bit of a mess of things here
[01:04:52] yes and also the fact is that his ex-girlfriend constance or whatever her name is kandace
[01:04:59] who he thought either that she he killed her or that she was in idly actually returns yeah
[01:05:06] depending on who you ask returns and he decides to change his identity and move to LA and start again
[01:05:15] and the problem with the second season for me at start is that it's all a little too convenient how
[01:05:21] it kind of slides right back into place but where once it finds its footing the second season
[01:05:27] is really interesting and you see joe now going by name of will uh repeeing his patterns repeeing
[01:05:35] his his obsession and his inability despite his antisocial behavior and his mental illness
[01:05:44] is inability to actually uh get out of his own fucking way when it seems like he actually does
[01:05:51] have a genuine connection with something or someone and because of his twisted interpretation
[01:06:00] of what is normal behavior or acceptable behavior things really do fucking fall apart
[01:06:06] we are on the eighth episode of the second season so please don't scroll past that
[01:06:14] and the revelation well there's like several revelations i was gonna say there's a lot of
[01:06:19] is like wow i didn't i didn't know it could go there it's both good and frustrating as you said
[01:06:25] joe slash will he continually trips over his own dick and creates problems where he could have
[01:06:32] quite easily avoided them it's a pattern of behavior it's a cycle of mental illness is
[01:06:37] interesting dynamic because it is a show where the main protagonist is someone that you find
[01:06:43] yourself rooting for right but and also like minutes later fucking despising yeah i knew this
[01:06:50] guy okay i knew this guy and a couple different presentations when i was in my late teens early
[01:06:58] 20s there was always the kind of guy where you felt like an asshole for saying that you could see
[01:07:04] through the facade you know there are certain things you value at that age when you're like
[01:07:08] a bored young man in the midwest with no like direction and you do really kind of just
[01:07:15] are able to sniff bullshit on someone who is absolutely drowning in pussy
[01:07:21] and i hate to say yeah i hate to say that like looking back and still looking in the frame of
[01:07:28] like you don't deserve all that trim like like you never did you never did you never will well
[01:07:34] there are kids starving in africa yeah you have less episode who ate all the pussy is that
[01:07:41] yeah that would would fucking beat in their neighbor's skull for just a whiff of it and there you are
[01:07:47] wasting it wasting it on you yeah you with your terrible self-published sci-fi book
[01:07:54] and using that to wander your way into so many beds in between so many legs and now you like
[01:08:01] work for your brother's animation company or some bullshit out in california living a way
[01:08:05] better life than either one of us but you know what we ain't you yeah and for that i will
[01:08:09] always be grateful yeah i've got a few of those yeah but uh so you season two okay yeah yeah it's
[01:08:17] it was very the first season was triggering right because again like i know this fucking guy
[01:08:22] yeah they all they're all named like andrew yeah
[01:08:30] the low-key most psychotic white boy you'll ever meet in your life is always named like andrew
[01:08:35] michael yeah i'm a joe yeah joe's the one in the show but like yeah there's there's a joe that i know
[01:08:41] too that's like jesus christ yeah not that i think about things necessarily in those value systems
[01:08:47] now is a 38 year old adult but but looking back then the currency and the value system being like
[01:08:56] that dude's faking the fucking funk right over there and there was a couple guys like that i knew
[01:09:01] or like necessarily in the sense of like romance but just like in life or like you are a
[01:09:06] fucking fraud i hope one like i could just like look at you and tell that you were full of shit
[01:09:11] but yeah like in the first season is alcoholic neighbor it's like just like totally fingers
[01:09:16] them yeah like you are a fucking freak yeah and he ain't wrong no i know the type
[01:09:22] you're it well uh speaking of how how did this get made was the question i had on my mind
[01:09:28] when i saw the people's joker brian have you seen the people's joke i have not i threw this one on
[01:09:35] late at night thinking okay i'm gonna fall asleep and i'm not going to be able to talk about this
[01:09:40] but no i was wrapped for the entire runtime the video on demand copy though does include a very
[01:09:48] very long wedding in the opening where the star vira drew is getting married to an inflatable
[01:09:57] wrestler toy with the the yoke queen phoenix joker face just taped to it it's absurd and it's all an
[01:10:04] ad for the fact that it's on video on demand and i'm like that's where i got this is video on
[01:10:09] demand why am i seeing a 15 minute ad for it being on video on demand when i'm one so that was
[01:10:16] like primed me to be mad about the movie yeah i was gonna say that's already making you feel
[01:10:21] once you get past that it's really funny it's genuinely this handmade pastiche there's all these
[01:10:31] it's a movie that is definitely made with a singular vision but with no budget and with
[01:10:40] you know another company's characters it's all dc characters it's all underneath all of that the
[01:10:46] batman parody is all the riffs on the joker uh because there's four or five different versions
[01:10:52] of the joker show up as characters in this movie but it really is vira drew's story about her coming
[01:11:00] up realizing that she's trans going into the new york city comedy community getting abused
[01:11:07] like it's it's got some real dark shit happening i saw her in this thinly veiled batman
[01:11:12] pastiche so as a batman pastiche it only works because it's so badly it's like this intentional
[01:11:20] like kind tim erikey tim and erikey tim heidecker shows up as peri white who's doing an alex jones
[01:11:26] impression as so that's uh rhea bamford plays lauren michaels amazing and they really rip into
[01:11:34] the ucb group uh quite extensively oh well you know what like uh already i'm intrigued to watch this
[01:11:40] yeah it's pretty brutal in its takedown of ucb of rewriting the batman mythology to be about you
[01:11:48] know rich new york guys taking in young people who are questioning their sexual identity and
[01:11:56] and kind of entering them into lives of sexual servitude and calling them robin you know just
[01:12:01] some real interesting concepts that are in this movie it's also weirdly deeply personal it really
[01:12:05] does revolve around veer drew and you know coming out to her mom and it's better than it has any right
[01:12:11] to be the constituent parts feel like they wouldn't work a transcombing story would work on its own
[01:12:16] yes but everything else with the the non-existent sets and the they hit the cg on the penguins
[01:12:23] nose in some scenes because like they couldn't get the nose just like there's some definite
[01:12:27] technical limitations that they really had to overcome um there's some scenes where it's just
[01:12:32] very clearly like there everything is a green screen and they're trying to make it work but
[01:12:37] the seams are showing you know not literally but you know you can kind of suss out that this is all
[01:12:43] kind of and there's a lot of backgrounds that are just like hand drawn and not well like not a
[01:12:48] matte painting but just like someone did cardboard and i mean it's michelle gondry tim and eric
[01:12:55] that kind of sweeted thing so aesthetically it's all over the place the you really have to
[01:13:04] you have to sit down and watch it with an open mind just like okay let this movie in because if
[01:13:10] you're picking apart all the little shit that's going on in the background you're gonna miss the
[01:13:14] whole point of the movie which is that comedy is hard and being trans is harder
[01:13:18] being trans is harder than being a troop amen to that i will salute them every day of the week
[01:13:24] but yeah just uh well what a tour de force what a fantastic movie i think a lot of it was also just
[01:13:30] like baiting Warner to like try to get this movie right try i dare you but yeah which resulted in
[01:13:38] a ton of publicity exactly veer drew natural performer it's funny and just kind of it even hits the
[01:13:45] emotional marks and these in these unexpected ways there's a it goes some weird places but
[01:13:50] i love it um it definitely is one of those things where i feel like the people who grew up watching
[01:13:56] rocky horror picture show with the midnight show automatically have kind of a a a clue into like
[01:14:02] what this movie's gonna be like you know not the acting's not all that great the sets look
[01:14:07] kind of like but the overall experience is just fun aesthetic yeah the vibe yeah it definitely
[01:14:14] is like a youtuber made this and that's that's pretty much it yeah and but yeah enjoy people's
[01:14:21] joker video on demand really fun little movie um i don't necessarily need to own the blu-ray because
[01:14:26] again it was it looks like fucking potato yeah there's some scenes where you're like oh okay
[01:14:33] that's the best shot you got okay that was your best take yeah you couldn't give them to do that
[01:14:39] twice huh no and then someone had to pick up their kid yeah kind of but for all of that it's still
[01:14:49] enjoyable so that's the mark of a good movie i think if you can look past all those flaws and
[01:14:53] still see the the beating heart of the creator inside that's kind of cool on that note i think
[01:14:58] it's time for us to hit the old dusty trail brian working they find you on the old internet
[01:15:03] uh yeah if you want to find me on the old twitter it's isha gidi board ish ish otgyd b o r d
[01:15:11] if you want to find me on instagram i'm over there uh as a music photographer that's at a music
[01:15:18] photographer um if you want to check out of my photography portfolio you can go over to uh
[01:15:26] asshole music photographer dot com if you want to go check out the world's hottest 500 internal
[01:15:33] error message and go over to a music photographer because apparently some word press update
[01:15:38] completely borked my website so now i gotta figure out how the fucking yeah i'm like i'm like trying
[01:15:43] to talk to uh a band's agent and be like oh yeah you remember i yeah i covered them last summer
[01:15:48] and i'm like wanted to be like yeah here's my coverage from last summer no because they reached
[01:15:52] out like you want to cover this i'm like yeah i'm like okay who are you with again i'm like oh
[01:15:56] yeah no i did this and then i'm like oh my website doesn't work so i guess i might not be
[01:16:00] photographing young the giant next week we'll fucking see well by the time this goes up hopefully
[01:16:04] knock on wood we'll find some time if you want to check out the last good and perhaps the
[01:16:11] only media website left to stay in motion go over to the arts stl dot com hopefully by time
[01:16:17] this goes up i'll have my little piece up for um for king gizzard and lizard wizard which i am
[01:16:24] photographing tomorrow night over at the factory i'm looking forward to that show uh their opener
[01:16:30] might be the worst thing of her in the wild oh no this band from new york called geese where it's
[01:16:35] like okay which one of you guys has like a parent it's like a ceo or vice president like an oil
[01:16:41] company you know i but one of the few good things about cove is that like a kite cut out some
[01:16:46] bullshit from the creative world but turns out there's still apparently a dollar amount that gets you
[01:16:52] on a tour with a band like king gizzard and lizard i listen to their latest record on the drive home
[01:16:56] from work i was like gritting my teeth and like sweating that bad i was i was like fucking like no
[01:17:02] way like no way this song has like two million plays it gets recommended to be a spotify for
[01:17:08] some reason yeah it just feels like the sort of thing to put before before i hand it over
[01:17:14] to you put in perspective folks when i first started photographing and writing about music in the late
[01:17:19] aughts like in 2008 and 2009 this would have been the sort of thing when we sat in laura hamitz
[01:17:25] living room when we had the playback stl meetings uh that when she started reading off the the one
[01:17:32] sheet from the record label we would chuckle and go that sounds terrible this is one of those records
[01:17:39] okay yeah it'd be one of those things that someone would take because it sounds so bad like i need a laugh
[01:17:46] i need a laugh i want to hear what like this this conspiracy theorist rapper from tampa
[01:17:51] yeah when i was at katie and chex we had that cut out bin like if something was in the stacks and
[01:17:56] it hadn't been played it went to the cutout bin i was forever digging in that looking for like
[01:18:02] okay what's this oh okay yeah oh the music of george the kai oh my i don't know i think
[01:18:09] george might have got played on katie and chex more than some of these other bands that didn't make the
[01:18:13] cut that sounds bad uh i hope uh hopefully you can skip that and just do king guzzo and lizzo's
[01:18:19] lizzo's it's gonna be a three hour set mm i was watching a video of their performance uh in
[01:18:25] nashville a couple nights ago and my girlfriend had me like in the middle of watching this like
[01:18:31] leave the house and like check something at her old place because she thought
[01:18:35] some male got dropped off there and i think i was out of house for like 15 20 minutes i came back
[01:18:41] they're still playing the same fucking song nice yes let's go let's fucking go but like the thing
[01:18:49] was like oh cool the song isn't over because usually when i find things like that like come
[01:18:54] across things that in life it's a thing that makes me frown yeah really bad like i smelled
[01:18:58] something really terrible and also i just like opened up a letter it says i have jury dewey
[01:19:03] but this was like oh okay that's kind of cool yeah this is still got a sick groove going all right
[01:19:08] i fuck with this you didn't make the do-do phase i didn't make did they did not make the gas phase
[01:19:14] exactly anyways jason where can they harass you on there that oh boy oh boy you can harass me in
[01:19:19] a number of ways my favorite of which is still twitter uh and blue sky there i am video crime
[01:19:25] v i d e o c r i m e any place there's a video crime chances are that's me that includes letter
[01:19:31] box a bunch of other stuff you can also find me as part of a podcast that's not this one
